I’ve been coming here for years, while it’s still a nice place, the quality and portions of the food has declined massively recently. We won’t be buying food here again. The picture below is supposed to be hand carved gammon and it was tasteless.
Had a great visit here.nFood was really nice, served hot, tasted great and was good value for money.nNice drinks selection and not overly priced like a lot of places.nThe service made our visit though.nCharlotte our waitress was fantastic. She was happy, smiley, polite and went out of her way to ensure we had everything we needed. She even came back after we had our meals to ensure everything was OK. The restaurant was busy and she was running round all over the place a great employee, just what a busy pub needs. Look forward to our next visit.
Food was nice enough although not great. We found the choice of how the veg was served a bit odd & would have preferred just standard sliced carrots etc traditionally served. The crumble topping seemed more scattered over rather than crumbled & baked on.
Had a festive menu lunch here with a friend. Table decorated and set beautifully, next to a log fire. Excellent meal: soup to start was piping hot and delicious. Mains were sea bass, very tasty and a traditional turkey dinner - very enjoyable. Lovely quiet atmosphere too.
We had a brilliant meal at The Four Topped Oak. Everyone in our group thoroughly enjoyed their food—we had the gammon and egg, the fish and chips, and the double maple stack burger. Everything was delicious and definitely worth the price. We’ll be back!
