We were a small stag group that arrived here at lunchtime on a Saturday on the understanding we would be able to watch the football. We left at 23:30 because we were made to feel so welcome. We ate from the lunch menu then had pizzas in the early evening and stayed to watch the band on the suggestion of the staff. The band were very entertaining (even though they didn’t know Penny Arcade), they were very patient with our drunken antics and at the end of the night the landlady even arranged us taxis (as a previously booked service had let us down). The whole day was amazing value and staff, the band, locals and tourists all came together to make this a great day. Highly recommended

My family and I had a brilliant meal here. Real pub food, done really well. My wife had the Chicken Curry with (half 'n' half) chips and rice. The curry was tasty and not over spicy. The rice was perfect and the chips, very good. My daughter ordered lasagne, from the smaller appetites menu. This came with a side of salad and a small helping of chips. Perfect for a little one of Nine. For myself, I went for an "All day breakfast burger. " The burger was lean and made from good quality beef. By the texture, I would say it was handmade, either by a butcher or the chef. Topping this was a rash of bacon, cheese and a fried egg. All housed in a fresh white bun. A fresh side salad of red chard, lettuce, cucumber and tomato accompanied it, along with a helping of chips. The bar and eating area are well maintained and comfortable. This is a real pub, with proper ale and an open fire. Great for walkers and visitors alike.
