Staff were accommodating but that's about all that was good. Tiny room, very dated, shower small and grubby, towels old and thin as we're the pillows. No fire escape. One set of narrow steep stairs to all the rooms. Rooms: See above. Sloping room cut down on available space which was already very small. Safety: No fire escape. Only way out in case of fire was a small double window onto the road, which I'm not sure would have opened sufficiently.
We came for 1 night for a wedding and arrived in North Berwick a mile from the hotel with limited time when the clutch went on the car! With limited time Candice went above and beyond to make sure we got to the wedding on time. She was amazing and we had a lovely stay. The rooms were clean and comfortable with plenty of tea and coffee , the beds super comfortable. Breakfast was lovely but I would have liked an option with the eggs . I’m partial to a poached eggs but the scrambled eggs were tasty . It’s in a lovely spot for North Berwick which is a beautiful town. I’ll definitely be back
Booked for 2 nights 17-19 March 2022. On arrival was greeted by a friendly member of staff sorry, can't remember her name but she was from South Africa. She explained that I had been upgraded from the Single to a Double bedroom which was great . I collected the key for room 6 2 keys on the ring; 1 for the room and the longer key for the side door of the Building: I'm sure will be explained to other Guest's The room itself was very comfortable: There is a colour television with remote control handset. Double bed with duvet plus a very warm faux fur blanket. There is also plenty of space for hanging up clothes plus a decent sized chest of drawers . The kettle plus tea/Coffee/ sugar sachets and UHT individual milk cartons supplied are positioned on a tray , which is all very useful. 2 spot / bed side reading lamps gave off sufficient lighting, without being as if I'd been caught in headlights. . There is main ceiling light but I didn't need to use at all. One final thing about the room, there is a full size mirror fixed to the wall by the bed, which is useful too. Before I forget, The bedroom window is called a" Sash" : which means it moves up and down rather than outwards, just don't forget to turn the catch on top of the lower window. This allows you to open it. The en suite shower room was a good size. Electric shower set to heating category number 8 was just the right temperature for me but it's easily changed depending on what water temp you like. Water pressure was very good too. Over the sink there's a good sized mirror plus a electric outlet for shavers etc. This room does need a little bit of updating but I was told by the member of staff that the rooms are being spruced up. This didn't stop me from using it at all As it was " The Folly's" low season a continental breakfast was available; consisting of various cereals, fresh fruit, yoghurts and Toast plus delicious freshly made coffee; you could choose assorted Teas as well. All in all a really pleasant surprise. Would I return and recommend " The Folly?" to friends and family? Very much so!!! Thank you again to the lady who looked after me , Apologies , but I've forgotten her name but thank you again for making it such a great stay.
Had a wonderful overnight stay. Room was clean and comfortable with a sea view and parking facilities across the road. Grateful thanks to our member of staff who was a Harry Potter fan!! She was friendly and helpful and provided us with a delicious breakfast...nothing was too much trouble. Look forward to staying here againRooms: 5/5
Great reception and lovely staff! Was lovely entering. Lovely clean sheets and room! Staff were great and helpful and even let us leave our beer in the fridge! Really nice for checkout as well and allowed us to leave our bags for one last look around north Berwick : great time, thank youRooms: 5/5
Nice little hotel. Nice selection of breakfast. Nice rooms although quite creaky and could hear noises from other rooms so if you're a light sleeper it might be a bit difficult. Quite steep stairs to the floor with the rooms so if you have problems walking it's not a great place to stay. Wi-Fi was surprisingly good, were able to stream in HD absolutely fine. Staff were lovely! Was a lot better than what I expected of a 2 star hotel. Would certainly stay here again if we're in North Berwick :
Had a lovely stay at this hotel in North Berwick, welcoming staff and really idyllic location. Very fairly priced too, nice choice for a quick weekend away.
Only stayed for 1 night but would definitely stay again. Very clean & comfortable. Lovely, friendly staff & great breakfast. My husband was delighted that it was right opposite the golf course!Rooms: 5/5
The staff were brilliant and could not do enough. The room was spotless and when I said I’d prefer a kettle they gave me a new one. Good choices for breakfast and you could have as much tea/ coffee as you wanted. I’ll definitely go back.Rooms: 4/5
Rooms are on the small size for the price of accommodation. There is no wardrobe in the room and just a small rail with only 3 hangers. Breakfast is very limited and they don't do poached eggs.
