The day before, I booked a room for two people for one night. I asked if we can collect the keys before 12. It was stated that there is such a possibility and at that time everything was okay. The next day, we arrived around 11.30 to pick up the keys, leave our luggage and go on the track. Before us was a Sir who took rooms for eight people for six or eight days. He still wanted a room for the ninth person, the Manager who served him, told him that he would try to sort out this room for him, even though it was booked. I stood behind him and heard everything. When I asked for the room that I booked, the Manager stated that there is no way we could get this room or any other. He simply lied in my face that the heating did not work in the hotel, he could not rent any room now, because he was waiting for a technician at 14 o’clock. When I asked about these gentlemen in front of me, why he let them in, he said that they left only their luggage. What was an insolent lie, because I heard the whole conversation standing behind them, how they are arranging the rooms, and the Manager sorts out an additional room, which was reserved for us. We were sent back to a more expensive hotel, which we couldn’t afford. I do not recommend it to anyone because you can be disappointed, even when you make a reservation!

Fantastic place! Went out of way to give exceptional service!!!! Came in with a toddler and my pooch They worked with menu and gave excellent service and it was a pretty clean little pub. Truly exceptional with kindness and service

I visited North Berwick with my sister and was looking for somewhere nice to eat and to spend the night. We were glad that we hit upon the County. From the outside it looks like a typical pub, but once we went in the door we were welcomed by a roaring coal fire and the friendly proprietor. We both had a lovely meal and decided to stay the night. The rooms though slightly dated were clean and comfortable and met our needs. We went downstairs later and enjoyed an excellent singer. We were told that there is live music here every Friday night. All in all, I was impressed with the County and am happy to recommend.

I enjoyed my stay at The County in North Berwick. I t was off season so the town was quiet. I enjoyed the company of the locals at the bar a fine breakfast was served and the also have a varied much menu. The rooms while basic had everything and were clean and very well presented. Well worth a visit great value for money I will be back
