Food was great- two must try dishes are the Hatti Grill and the Lamb KarahinA good menu selection for meat eaters and vegetariansnService was slow and we had to find a member of the waiting staff a couple of times - they did seem short staffednOverall a good experience and will return
Second time we go there with my family to watch football and relaxnLovely atmosphere, been welcomed by manager Joseph, and he even gave us a table at their bussiest time, can’t be more grateful and happy with his servicenThe food is spot on, Service even better.nBussy but everything on time and lovely garden for kids to play so they dont make noise insidenOver all very happy and will keep going back
This was the Red House pub when I was growing up and wasn't that great. We went to the Flying Elephant on Wednesday to celebrate a birthday and see what it was like. First impressions were great, with both the outside and inside looking much nicer. We were warmly welcomed and shown to our booked table. The menu looks excellent with a mix of Indian, Kenyan and British dishes. We ordered starters and main courses. All the food was really excellent. I particularly recommend the Samosa Chaat! The only slight downside was that the plates for the main course were cold. When we asked whether they could be heated the waitress said 'well they have come from the hot plate' and walked off. We then opined that the service really dropped off and even though it was becoming busier, there were staff just standing around - when we finished our meal nobody cleared the finished ates even after we'd received and paid the bill. At the time we shrugged it off and as I say the food was fantastic so we still enjoyed the meal. However, I would love this place to succeed so improve the service and it will be even better. We will return to see!
Lovely food and lovely fast service, even though they were very busy!nPeshwari naan was so delicious. Would recommend xx
This was the first time for me trying The Flying Elephant , and I have to say, I will be coming back again at some point . My family have been before and they said that the service was much better this time compared to their first time, but for my first time I can't fault the service at all. We went on Easter Sunday and it was not too full and not too empty which was nice as there was a right level of atmosphere. I WOULD RECOMMEND BOOKING IF COMING FOR FOOD as my family said that it was very busy on their first visit .nnOne note to the management which I do hope read the reviews is that I noticed some of the music paying wasn't child friendly at times, so it might be worth noting . Nevertheless do not let this put you off coming!nnWe were catered to by Muhammad I hope I remembered his name! And the level of service was one of the best I've received at this type of restaurant, if the management reads this make sure to give him praise as he's definitely an asset to the place .nnOnto the food . I will be speaking for the food I ate which was the large mixed grill, we also ordered a vegetarian mixed grill but I did not eat that, so won't be reviewing it. Let me just say this... THE BEST MIXED GRILL WINGS I'VE EVER TASTED . I would definitely recommend trying the wings as the flavour was nothing I've ever tried before and I will definitely be returning to try them again. The fish pakora were lovely and succulent, not oily in the slightest which is my experience in the past with other mixed grills. I didn't eat the lamb chops or kebab as I'm not a fan of lamb. The tandoori chicken was lovely too so put simply, I can't fault the mixed grill and would definitely recommend trying it!nnFor my main, I ordered butter chicken, garlic and coriander naan and masala fries . The butter chicken is now my 2nd best for butter chicken dishes, I won't mention which restaurant is 1st but the only reason why is because the butter chicken here did taste a little too tomatoey , but that doesn't mean it's bad. Yes, I could have sent it back but it wasn't off putting so I ate it! Nevertheless it was still nice but as mentioned there was a strong flavour of tomato. I can't fault the garlic and coriander nann as that was cooked well and tasted nice. The masala fries did taste nice but there was a little too much Chatt masala flavour that I got from it, however, I would still get these again.nnOverall I can't fault the service, taste and atmosphere. I will be coming again at some point and WOULD DEFINITELY RECOMMEND TRYING THE FLYING ELEPHANT .nnSide note: I did not tell the staff I will be leaving my review, and this review is my honest thoughts on this shop! .
