What a fantastic place! Perfect mix of a traditional old building but very well presented. We booked a table to watch rugby then stayed for a meal in the bar so cannot comment on rooms or the more formal restaurant although it looked busy.  Service was great from the beginning, usually got table service for drinks of which there was a good range.  When we ordered food it was quite quick to come and was excellent.  Lovely afternoon had, will surely be back.

The place was a wee bit busy with some people eating and drinking inside and outside as the weather was nice for a change  ha ha . My partner and I  met up with my cousin and her partner and decided to go for a bar lunch here as we was in the area, staff were pleasant and polite the menu was nicely set out and the price was reasonable I was £82 for 3 soft drinks and 2 pints of lager and 4 meals which I was expecting to be more but when I got the bill I said to my partner that was less than what I was expecting to pay but I would defiantly go back again

Visited for a staff meal 30 dinersnFood was nice, portion sizes varied for our  starters between dishes some huge portions, others seemed on the small sidenMain courses were all well presented and tasted good.nEach member of the group seemed to enjoy their meal and the ones I've spoken with since have only good things to say about the meal and service.

Nice rooms I had.nShower smelt damp tho so didn't bother having a shower.nLovely hotel tho.nFriendly staff.nNice food.nGood selection on drinks/beers ect.nNice cooked breakfast made to order

Sadly I have to rate poorly. In the past I used to eat here quite often and it was always excellent. On this visit we didn't even stay. Asked if we would sit in the bar, as there was going to be a funeral tea in the restaurant. The bar was empty apart from two men drinking.  Surrounded by 4 tv screens! Menu so disappointing we decided to leave. Depressing and seedy. So sad it used to be great.
