Came to see a good friend with my wife. We came for breakfast and we all had a nice fry up and it was good and nice. Great service and it was nice and quiet. We had a nice catch up with hot drinks and it was a nice time.
Typical weather spoons, good value. Very windy near the door. Food was tasty and the wine and beer good. The interior was very worn and our table was filthy and nobody cleared it even when they served food. At that point I actually asked them to wipe it and clear the previous persons glasses. To which they apologised. It was very quiet.
First thing I noticed was the service was impeccable, the girls at the bar were just super friendly and very helpful, the guy who served our food was as well. I love the ambiance, it was very family friendly and even the people who had a few to drink were nice. Their prices are as always very competetive, loved it. But when it came to the food, it was just disappointing. The fish and chips were okay but the burger that I ordered was just dry and really plain. And the worst part is the ramen that my wife ordered, it was not a ramen at all. It was not japanese inspired but rather indian soup. The ingredients were just wrong. I spat it out when I tried to try some.
Always a bonus visiting a Spoons where not only the toilets are on the ground floor but also has a quality range of beers. A great team of staff on duty here today including Jake Young who is passionate about the cask ales on sale which quite rightly has earned this pub an entry in the 2024 Good Beer Guide. The Unity Pale Ale was a pleasure to drink
Food was absolutely stone cold. Bacon isn't even close to being cooked and what's going on with the eggs? Every other spoons I've got the muffin the egg runny and cheese is melted. Even the muffin itself was floppy. To top it off he wasn't even going to give me my drink. Went to walk away and I had to ask about the Pepsi max then he said the gas is broke or something... well fair enough but why didn't he just come tell me that instead me wondering why it didn't turn up.
