excellent people, not just in quality or cleanliness of the rooms and the great breakfast, but also helped me and other guest stuck out with the car in the snow, let me use the telephone to make tons of calls etc...

we had been on line and read the reviews and it sounded lovely. on friday afternoon i booked a room for that weekend saturday and sunday nights. when we arrived after 4pm we were greeted and made to feel very welcome and was asked if we wanted breakfast but we said no for sunday as we dont eat breakfast on sundays and we would let him know about monday. but on sunday morning we had a call to say my wifes mother had been rushed into hospital [nearly 93] and we were to go to Ipswich hospital as soon as poss. my wife went and explained the situation and he still wanted us to pay for the 2 nights he said he might have used the room for someone else but we only booked on friday. we agreed to pay 1 and a half nights which under the circumstances i think was unfair as we had planned to stay the 2 nights. my wife then went in to the kitchen and through to the dining room to pay and when she came out she said it was a good job we said no to the breakfast as the kitchen was disgusting sink full of dirty dishes dirty plates on the units cat food sitting on the floor not covered up.i dont think we will be returning.

Delightful in every respect! Food, atmosphere, comfort and decor. Bed and Breakfast rooms are beautifully appointed. The food is glorious: excellent teas in the tearooms; great Full English breakfast and evening meals for b&b guests. Drop in for a home cooked lunch when you're in the area. The Duke William is owned and run by a friendly, welcoming couple, Paul and Vanessa. We had a most enjoyable stay!
