I happened upon this gem at midday on a cold day. There was a warm fire and a strong hot cup of tea waiting for me. As I enjoyed my cuppa, some area regulars filed in and we were treated to warm hospitality. I look forward to having a meal here sometime!
Stayed here whilst working away. Brilliant rooms very friendly staff. The food is to die for. Massive variety on the menu and its all cooked to perfectionFood: 5/5
Love this pub! Food is great, nice range of drinks, ales straight from the cask also good. The ambience and decor must not change as its a great country pub, and like a nostalgic trip down memory lane. Fantastic.
We visited this pub last year to sample their famous steak and kidney puddings so we could not resist a return visit. This was a lunchtime visit so sampled lighter fare from the menu which was excellent, again. The roads around here are very narrow so caution is needed.
Lovely, old, traditional, unspoilt pub. Great pub food and a lovely selection of game too. Venison steak was lovely. Definitely recommended! Food: 5/5
Wonderful old pub, not re-vamped. Great beer and affordable tasty food. Tremendous atmosphere - a true step back in time. Had lunch, just a bacon and brie toastie but it was superb. Lovely little garden out the back and dog friendly too. What's not to like.
No lock in our room so when we leave our room, it remains unlocked. Outdated furniture and dirty bedding. Dusty room. Lumps in the carpet. Sun scorched curtains. One bottle of water for two people. An uptight waitress with attitude and poor manners. Rude and adrupt when asking a simple question. But food was great.
The food here is very good. The pub hasn't changed for years.Food: 5/5
Brilliant Pub with rooms and restaurant. Old charm with lovely feel to the place. Great selection of menus - food really good. Beers excellent with some local ales in casks. Staff and landlord made us feel welcome from our very first visit. Every time we go we get lovely greetings as though we have been going for years. Feels good!
We stayed 2 nights, not sure worth £90 a night. We compared other friends staying at another place which was modern and up to date and that was cheaper. Room was very outdated, bed squeaked. Felt like we were going back in time. For what we paid you would expect higher quality. No door key to lock door which I’ve never heard of before. Staff were friendly enough though and breakfast was decent.
