"The Rams Head Inn at Dolton has an established reputation as a great place for good food, wines & ales and quality accommodation. This 17th century inn recently underwent a tasteful programme of refurbishment by the previous owners and now, since April 2018, is under the ownership of Michelin accredited French chef Nicolas Boucher. In summer months there is a delightful garden area, offering a sheltered sun-trap to enjoy a glass of wine and a light meal. In winter months wood-burning stoves and tastefully furnished bar areas offer a cosy haven on a cold day. A separate dining room offers a more formal environment and also can accommodate private groups, including small wedding parties, by arrangement."

Saturday lunchtime, group of 4, lovely wood fire. Scallops were served with delicious sauce & home made bread. The soup was really good. Steak came with veg & potatoes, the meat was tender & smooth. The best I’ve ever enjoyed. Shepherds pie was served in a dish alongside veggies. The cheeseboard was generous served with home made baguette. Desert macaroons were moorish & it was enjoyed, would have enjoyed twice as much if there were two. We really enjoyed our meal out. The steak dish was £28 each & most deserts are £5-6 each. Lots to like. I had photos to add but there there was no prompt for this who’s here is a shame. Parking: Easy parking.
What a lovely find! We dropped in without a booking and were fortunate enough to have been squeezed in. Sunday lunch was absolutely wonderful. Everything was cooked to perfection. If it weren't 300 miles from home, this would definitely be a regular eatery for us.
This is a food destination, the food is prepared expertly and precisely in a wonderfully precise French style, the pub has a loverly village atmosphere, log buring stove great wine and beer on tap, thoroughly recommended you won't be disappointedFood: 5/5
We were asked by a friend who has accomodation locally to visit and give a recommendation. We dined here and thoroughly enjoyed the food and the service from the very friendly staff. We are looking forward to visiting again. Thank you.
Fabulous food, warm welcome, great stay all round. Megrim sole, scallops from Brixham, succulent lamb rack, short rib of beef, eggs Benedict for breakfast. I'm coeliac and carefully catered for in every way. Thank you so much Nico and Karen. Food & drinks: Couldn't fault them Noteworthy details: The chef is French and his food is superb
Had evening meal with two friends. Chef varied chosen dishes to suit personal dietary problems. Nicely presented meals served with a smile. Even had a dessert which I normally never eat. Nice and varied menu we all enjoyed. Very good quality freshly cooked, locally sourced ingredients. Definitely a venue I highly recommend and worth going out of your way to visit.
What an absolute gem of a place. The rooms are really quaint, clean, tidy and just absolutely gorgeous, the food was amazing, the staff are so friendly. Would definitely stay again if I’m back down that way xx
Food is simply amazing, lovely comfortable place to eat. Friendly staff and a beautiful location. Vegetarian options: Menu is somewhat limited but does have vegetarian options. But as Gordon Ramsey says keep the menu simple so you can cook everything to perfection. Rams head achieves this the food is delicious Kid-friendliness: Staff are very welcoming of children, happy to ask for additional meals from the chef, who accommodates Parking: Parking outside or if this is full there is a village car park opposite which you can park in without charge
