A charming country pub /restaurant. Lovely ambiance, professional staff and excellent food. Not stayed in the rooms but believe they have recently been tastefully decorated . There is also a lovely outside bar and dining area for the summer. Definitely worth a visit!
We took the other half’s parents out for a spot of lunch and decided to head to The Dog. We were greeted by friendly staff, seated quickly, both drinks and food were served reasonably quickly. Lovely pub, good food and drink, nice location, nice little outside bar and tables. Really nice place. Food & drinks: I had a sticky beef noodle salad which was very nice, the others I. The party all said they really enjoyed their choices as well.
Visited The Dog for a team lunchlate Christmas lunch. Great service and the food was amazing. Ample parking space is available to park your car here. Do look out while driving, the roads are narrow and the entrance is hidden by the road and bush from the neighboring property. Ordered chicken wings and steak pie, which was too much to handle in terms of taste and I feel very full. There is good selection of drinks available.
Myself, brother and parents had a Christmas meal booked yesterday evening that we were very excited about. Unfortunately we didn’t get to experience the food as my dad took ill 10 minutes after arriving. Just want to say how brilliant the staff were and a massive thank you to Kieran who looked after us all, getting my dad blankets while we waited for an ambulance. He made the situation a lot easier for us and we are very grateful. We will be back in the New Year to experience the pub probably. Thank you and Happy Christmas.
The location is nice as is the beer but the food is not great and overpriced. I asked whether the pie was homemade and was told it was by the Northern pie company but that the fish pie was homemade. That was £20. When it came, it was in a flatish dish with a few small potatoes on top and a miniscule portion of veg. I could have made it at home. We had crumble and I asked for half custard and half ice cream. We got one scoop of ice cream and we were charged £2.50. needless to say we didn't leave a tip and will not be coming back.
The Dog Over Peover, is a lovely looking pub friendly staff. We'd been there before and had a great meal. So much so we booked for Xmas dinner. Unfortunately some Xmas dinners arrived lukewarm, mine was fine, and they appeared to be short-staffed. Having said that the staff member did her best to get everyone's lunch to them. There was a nice selection of starters, mains and dessert, good range of bar drinks. The bar area, restaurant and toilets were clean and tidy. It was a shame that usually the food comes to the table hot, and to me there was a shortage of serving staff and maybe in the kitchen? I can't tell. Would I go back? Yes I'd like to try again in the summer just to check the Pub once more.
I visited for a lunch on a Sunday a couple of weeks ago and really did not enjoy the food that was served. I have been previously and loved the food, and the main reason we went this time was because of how lovely it was. But this time the food was not up to standard at all, it was okay but not what I would have expected such a good establishment to serve.
We didn't stay over just had a birthday meal for my other half the service second to none and a lovely atmosphere great place for a treatService: 5/5
We live in goostrey and heard about the dog, we went for Sunday lunch today. Bearing in mind I have celiac disease and don’t trust eating out often. Had a lovely Sunday lunch and loved the pub, the staff were engaging friendly and looked after us. We have family visiting next week and booked again as I know it will be good. Thanks Kay and pete from goostrey x
We had enjoyed a lovely evening meal there, cooked and served by very professional and helpful staff, then stayed a night in one of their 6 very clean and quiet rooms, next morning had fantastic free breakfast all freshly prepared, served by a super tentative lady called Dawn, who also told us a lot of historical information about the area. All in all it was a wonderful experience, we strongly recommend this well run pub/restaurant /B&B.
