Fantastic Ante-natal group! I really enjoyed meeting other mums to be in such a relaxing environment. Barbara was so lovely and very knowledgeable! You could really tell she was passionate about empowering women to have a positive birth, no matter how that might look from woman to woman. I couldn't recommend this course highly enough.
Highly recommend taking this class with your birthing partner for a confident and controlled birth experience. It was only after having my first child that I properly understood how important the role of a birth partner is. I always thought it was just up to the Mum, and that your partner was there for a bit of moral support and no more. My husband said he felt helpless when I was in labour first time round because he felt he couldn’t do anything to help. Although it wasn’t a bad birth, I did feel like I just gave my body over to the midwife and doctor, and it’s only afterwards that I learnt it didn’t necessarily have to go that way. For birthing my second baby I wanted to feel more empowered and in control so I signed my husband and I to an active birth class. It was the best class for us to do together because we learnt about the best ways my husband could support me during labour, as well as learning coping techniques. We learned about our options so that we could make informed choices no matter what the scenario and so we felt much better equipped this time round. After doing this active birthing class together we felt like more of a team going into labour and it relieved me of some pressure. I was better informed and more in control of the situation where I felt the midwives were supporting me with how I wanted to birth, rather than them directing me. I had a really positive birth that I feel really proud of and I know that taking the active birth class helped us both so much. Thank you Barbara!
