Fantastic experience, it's a lovely way to spend an afternoon and the staff are mostly very helpful. So many options to what to paint! Unfortunately it was VERY busy when we went two hen parties and a baby parent group and the place was body enough to be a problem for me. I don't think it would be an issue for most people as I'm very sound sensitive, but I really struggled. It is an expensive afternoon out, but save up and it's a lovely treat!
We loved spending a few hours painting here on a rainy Sunday. The staff are lovely and it has such a nice atmosphere with good music. This is definitely a must-try when in the Park Street area!
really fun afternoon here, it’s a £5 base fee for two hours of painting and then you pay for the pottery separately. there’s so many options to choose from and the range of colours is also ideal. it’s so peaceful and i’m very pleased with my final peace. really recommend if you’re looking for a wholesome activity for all ages!
Visited for a hen party, our host, Hannah I think was very tentative and patient with us all. Gave us good clear and helpful instructions to get the best out of our designs. Checked in on us from time to time and sorted payment quickly for us to dash off to our next event. Would definitely recommend it to anyone.. can't wait to see the pieces all fired and completed. Thank you for a great visit.
Not the 'All welcome' attitude you would expect now a days! I took my daughter aged 15 and 2 of her friends here and they were all sadly let down by the attitude and apparent prejudice of the staff. I had phoned ahead to ask about booking but the person on the phone said you can just turn up and find a space. So we arrived and as there was a table that sat 4 people I told the girls to take a seat. The woman behind the desk jumped on them and asked them "what are you doing!" In an aggressive and confrontational tone. I said they were with me as she had not seen me, and thought it was just the three of them and explained I had told them to take a seat at the empty table as i was told this would be fine. I explained i would be leaving the girls and someone else would be collecting them, and that I would pay for everything before they started. The girls chose their items and were told to find a table upstairs. Two of the girls hadn't done this activity before but I said the staff would explain the different techniques and how it works. Sadly they didn't. They abruptly told them where the paints were, and told to read the instructions that were on the table, and left them to it. This was not the case however, for two other young girls who happened to be white who arrived later, they were given plenty of time and had explained to them in much greater details how things worked and how to get the best out of the activity. One of my daughters friends went downstairs to buy herself a drink, but was again, in a very abrupt manner asked "What are you doing down here?" She explained she wanted to buy a drink, which she did and returned upstairs. The end result of the actual pottery was very good, however, their experience was totally overshadowed by the attitude of the staff towards them. They are not the types of girls to make a fuss but they were all very put out about it when I asked them how their day had gone. It is clear to me they were treated differently, and spoken to quite abruptly purely based on the colour of their skin. Art is for everyone, someone needs to remind the staff at flying saucers of this.
So much fun! BYO alcoholic drinks. Kids had a great time and so did the adults. Pottery isn't cheap but worth it for the experience! You get 2 hours and choose the item you want to paint. Then pick it up a week later when its been put in the kiln!
2 years ago I left a glowing review of FS but now it’s changed. My partner rang ahead and asked about booking for 4 people and the times we were allowed to come to paint. Told we could come whatever time we wanted to and did not need to book at all. We turned up at 3:15 were told that they would not accept people after 3 o’clock and had no space despite empty tables downstairs and upstairs. No mention of this 3oclock cut off on the phone nor website or socials. The website and socials are terribly out of date. The staff were very blunt and unhelpful. We asked if we could do a smaller piece but were told “there isn’t time”. This place has done down hill dramatically and it’s such a shame
Very poorly glazed 3 of our items... This will lead to them lasting less and just shows their general lack of care. They also smashed one of our pieces "completely beyond repair" and wouldn't let me see it to assess if I could fix it myself. When giving a refund for the broken mug they wanted to give me a voucher! As if I'm going back!
My sister had taken us up to Flying Saucers for my birthday as a surprise, she had checked their Facebook and website beforehand to make sure there was availability because you are unable to book if you’re a party under 5, but there was nothing on either saying there were any issues. We walked up before midday and saw a sign saying they were operating a limited capacity. We went in and waited for a member of staff to ask if there was any availability as it wasn’t full up inside, before we had a chance to ask anything a staff member rudely barked “paint or pick up” so we replied painting, she sighed and said no and just walked off before we had a chance to ask if we could wait or when there could be availability. We were both very disappointed and appalled at her tone and customer service, and the lack of communication online from the business.
I am so glad this place is back open again after lockdown! They have great measures in place to make us all feel comfortable and not restricted. The pottery painting is brilliant, so much choice, great supplies and the 1-2-1 help is really useful! Me and my friends all in our 20s had the lushest time as part of my bday weekend. It was relaxing, fun and so fulfilling!
