Great pub with good beer and nice live music.

My wife & I went to a gig here recently.nVery relaxed venue with friendly staff and customers adding to the great atmosphere. Good selection of drinks including real ales & ciders.

Arguably one of the best pubs in the North East. Great laid back atmosphere. Lots of space outside at the front overlooking the Lower Ouseburn valley. Cosy two room inside with real fire in the winter and loads of folk evenings in the other bar. Great small venue at the back/ upstairs. Always a good selection of cask ales and real ciders. All in all a great pub.

I'm not an ale person so all of that was lost on me and I think me and the barman just confused the hell out of each other lol but saw a live gig upstairs which was great. Think I scared the fiddlers downstairs with my enthusiastic post-gig appreciation of their lovely fiddle music though haha

Perfect pub for a nice evening out. There is always something going on: music, theatre,  comedy. Great beer selection and plenty of space
