This was a really interesting pub, still operating since the 1300s! The building looks like it, too. Old stone and mortar. Almost ruins looking. I had no plans of getting food at the time, but it was close enough to lunch time and the building interested me. Going in, I was greeted by the bartender, whose name I forget, but he was an extremely nice man that gave me a history lesson on the building, as well as other places in Swansea, the Castle, and The Mumbles. I got the fish and chips and assume it was pretty traditional, skin and bones and all. Us Americans aren't used to that, but I got through it ok :) It tasted fine. Lots to choose from on tap. Fast, great service and a really neat building to eat it in!

I'm rating it low due to one reason. The fish. I used to go there for the best fish and chips for me and the carvery for the wife.carvery excellent fish dire. It used to be massive and a proper piece of fish covering the length of the plate.with beautiful crispy batter and loafs of chips.I was really stuffed with quality. Now it has changed supplier and is no way as large a potion as it was.half the size and half the chips.very disappointed. I loved my monthly treat but won't make the journey from neath to swansea for plain food which is still the same original price .staff are great but totally devastated with the mini stickleback meal.

As the Oldest existing Public Building in City could become great tourist attraction. Instead of that we had (during refurb for a sports pub - even worst) random, ordinary pub with decent (again) pub food with quasi Tudor style interiors. At least staff is polite

It is a good pub and the service is great; however, get card machines so people can pay by card!

Was quite quiet when we went in, fast service at the bar and friendly staff. I didn't have food this time but it's usually delicious and very reasonably priced. It's also quite cosy and there's usually no shortage of somewhere to sit.
