The London Food Co-op is truly "one-stop shopping." I appreciate that I can get almost all my grocery needs there; the produce is organic, fresh, and beautifully displayed, with fading examples in a "price it yourself" box; the store is clean, uncrowded, friendly, and features local products, as well as bulk bins for refilling our own containers--everything we want and need in this day and age of corporate and multi-national excess in the grocery arena. I love shopping there>
We do almost all of our household shopping at the co-op and love going in. The prices are good. People all know each other and take pride in their store. We really appreciate shopping at a local store where the motto is ‘food for people not for profit’. Produce is great as well as all of the special, thoughtfully sourced products.
In the city since 1970, this food coop is London's OG organic food store. I do a work shift every six weeks and don't pay any service charges for my membership. The shifts are fun, the community is positive and the food is great. My girlfriend is vegan, I'm not, and we both find what we are looking for. What's not in the shop I order though the distributers catalogue at the front. It's a really important part of my life as a Londoner! Curious Londoners should really come by and try it out!
Do not tell people of 10% surcharge, on cost of total purchase. Not even when I phoned prior to going. Clerk was totally rude. When sister and I informed due to ignorant behavior would not be back, Clerk said good don't want you back. Totally unprofessional behavior,
The London Food Co-op is a true gem, a warm and inviting place to shop for food and household products. I love the community of people that shop there and the mangers Barb and Loretta who offer great personal service. The prices are very affordable especially the seasonal organic produce and bulk grains and legumes. I like being able to purchase many different bulk items with my own containers. The Co-op has been expanding the amount of bulk food that we can purchase without the need for single use packaging which is really important. My partner and I have been members for over 5 years now and we come in for 3 hour volunteer shifts as often as possible. This time spend is a great way to be involved and interact with our fellow community members. We are able to receive 10% discounts for our shifts which is a nice added motivator to volunteer and spend our food dollars there. I highly recommend this establishment to anyone who is interested in a personal and down to earth shopping experience! We are celebrating our 50 year anniversary in 2020 and looking forward to 50 more!
I used to shop here years ago and recently started going again. Who says you can’t find true love twice? They have really improved the inside cosmetically, and they have a great selection of Organic foods, like nuts, fruits, veggies, grains, and meats. And, almost all the products are local. So good for the environment and they are a non-profit business. I find their prices to be better in most cases than big chain supermarkets and there is Loretta, who is the big cheese here. And, she is a blast! So if you want to try a new shopping experience like non other. This is the place.
I used to shop here all of the time but slowly stopped over the past year or so because I live on the other side of the city. I was in the area yesterday and decided to stop in. One of the girls that worked there walked by and said hi. Then she walked over to me, looked me up and down and said, "You're not a member here..." I went on to explain to her that I used to shop here but it's been about a year since my last visit. She was pretty rude and extremely condescending. She said, "You owe 4 weeks." I was confused as to what she was referring to and she went on to explain the policy. Since I stopped shopping and haven't paid my $4.00 a week for membership, that I would have to pay the maximum charge, of 4 weeks. At that point I had enough of rudeness for one day, and decided to bring back my basket, and leave. As I was leaving she said, "Non members can pay an additional 10%." I kept walking. I used to LOVE coming here because all of the staff were so friendly. Because of this experience I will not be returning. And it's a shame because I am moving to the area but I will be taking my money elsewhere.
Friendly staff, excellent product and clean environment.
Extremely friendly staff and wide selection of organic foods. A bit pricey but one pays for high quality products. I purchased frozen fish and it was excellent.
Super cute! Lots of well priced product. $10 initial refundable buy in. And good Covid safety. Shop local!
