Its a nice open space - so you'd think it would be perfect for walking round in, or even jogging, right? Its not quite as simple as that. This is basically a dog walkers paradise. Pick any time of the day - dogs everywhere! On the whole, owners are responsible and pick up the dog mess, but bear in mind - this where all dogs come to do their...toilet. So you might want to think again about a family picnic on the grass. If I was a city councillor, I'd restrict dog walking to certain times of day, allowing walkers/joggers at other times. I'm also a bit disappointed with the daffodil display. Most town commons and village greens have daffodils all along the perimeter. Here, they have restricted daffodils to a single line along Ashdon Road. Bizarrely, there's not a single crocus to be found - very odd considering Saffron Walden's town symbol is the crocus! If you want to see amazing crocus displays and daffodils, take yourself along to Norwich - its extraordinary what they've done there.

What a great, astounding space for you people to relax, have a picnic, have a walk and just enjoy yourselves. It’s also great for events if you do any and there are some events every now and then to visit on this common and I also love that there’s a maze for something extra and it is just a great space to indulge in on summer and hot days.

This is easily one of the top five pieces of flat land with grass and a car park on in the whole of Saffron Walden. Visit today! Unless you are busy then any other day will do....

The Common is where most events requiring space are held e.g. circus, fun fair, big markets and Saffron Walden Carnival. There is also a play area for children and a Medieval Maze. The main town car park is adjacent to the Common.

This is a great place .central to town.is great for familie pick nicks ,ball games,dog walks and there is a fenced in children's park and the maze.the only downfall is that it is right next to busy roads with no fencing around it.
