It's a great shop! Amazing service and excellent staff however my friend and I went there to get a snack because it had been a long day but we were shouted at by a member of staff. A couple of weeks later I came back with the same friend, my partner and their cousin, we all decided what we wanted to eat so my friend and I went into the shop while my partner and their cousin were waiting outside as we went in their was no queue so we both thought it would be an in and out but NO. As we were walking towards the checkout it was like a school single file line of people we left home at 3:00 and came out 3:26!
Expensive. Sandwiches not stocked often enough. Peak times the queues grow quickly. The cash point still hasn't been replaced after 6 months!! The automatic door is way too slow opening on the way out and they STILL waste energy by refusing to turn their high energy sodium outside lighting off during the day - despite me even mentioning it to the manager directly. Only saving grace really are the staff who have to work for this gaff. At least they're down to earth.
Customer service has serious issues, some staff treat even regulars horribly. Even if you are friendly with them they can turn on you in just a few words or an event that they cannot bothered to fix. Big queues despite having 3 extra tills to use but only 1 staff member regularly on the till, you’ll be lucky if someone calls in more than 1 person to help them. The place needs a whole rework but they’ve taken away about 30% of their floor space, hired minimal staff and hiked their prices, probably because of dwindling sales due to the constantly extortionate prices, unfriendly demeanour of the staff and big queues. Why should customers who are regulars constantly deal with a few members of staff treating you like trash and have no respect for you just because of 1 thing, it’s even like they communicate with each other who to target if they don’t like them. I’ve been followed, talked to aggressively and more that I won’t say to avoid identifying myself. This store has serious issues!
Pretty mixed experience, some staff are friendly and attentive where as others are a bit of a grump. On the whole you can get most of what you need here without having to travel elsewhere. Unless you need a big shop, and it tends to be quite expensive
Don't stock half the things they used to. Staff member told me it's because we're not in Bourton-on-the-Water. So, Co-Op management have profiled Northway residents as chavs - thanks for that!
This place is an absolute shambles! The queue to pay is absolutely ridiculously constantly and they usually have one old person who looks like they need to retire serving at a snail pace I must add serving. They never call or ask for more staff to come help, whilst 3-4 wander round stocking up there overpriced stuff on the shelves. The place smells and quite honestly seem to be lost somewhere in the 90's. The staff are rude and arrogant and clearly would all benefit from leaving.
It's a food shop..you can buy anything from there, staff very friendly..and sometimes they have good offers on..
If you’re local to Northway, this Co-op is the only supermarket within easy distance without travelling into Tewkesbury or Cheltenham. It contains the usual essentials as well as a Post Office, an ATM and PayPoint at the tills where you can pay any bills or top up your gas and electric. Unfortunately that’s where the good points end. This supermarket profits from its location and lack of local competition by being quite expensive. For example a 1ltr bottle of Lucozade which retails for £1 at Sainsbury’s costs £2.28 here unless you’re able to catch it while it’s on offer. I understand that one of the points of the Co-op is to provide fairer prices for suppliers as well as its customers however I don’t think companies like Ribena-Lucozade or Coca-Cola are particularly poor to start off with. Their bakery selection on the face of it looks promising and diverse but whatever supplier it is they have gone with just use cheap ingredients with cakes and other confectioneries being full of palm oil. Unless you’re after something like a bog standard loaf of white bread you’re going to be disappointed. Their chilled and frozen section is also disappointingly small with their products never looking particularly fresh. If you’re after a packet of sick sick as in ill, not something amazing in the local vernacular looking ham then you’re set but everything else is lacking in variety and again quite expensive. Their fruit and produce department isn’t worth of any mention as it is absolutely tiny and if you go in towards the middle to end of day you’re lucky to get anything that looks half decent if anything at all. They have a huge area in between the two fresh aisles that at the moment is being used to advertise unhealthy snacks or crates of beer, but instead would much better be used to display a larger produce section including floral displays. Their frozen section is pathetic with many of the products selling out and not being replenished, or with some fixtures being used as temporary storage for Tupperware boxes and back stock. Their drinks and alcohol selection however is fairly respectable and offers good variety, if only expensive. The next part, and perhaps the worst, is the service. You’ll quite often be waiting in a long queue to be served. If and when they ring for help, someone will eventually come down but only when the queue resembles the line for a sell out concert. The store is in bad need of some self-scan checkouts and it would greatly speed up and improve the overall customer journey. If you’re prepared to travel then other supermarkets will definitely cater to your needs a lot better than this one.
They don't accept Cooperative Group member cards for the member deals. The member deals are for a separate spin-off cooperative group so when you get to the till if you have the wrong member card you will be charged more money than you are expecting and they will accept no responsibility for this despite not telling you anywhere that this is the case and not mentioning at the till that the card you are using doesn't work for the discounts.
The lousiest shop I ever came across. The newspapers are never there on time, the prices are outrages and some of the staff is very unhelpful.
