Probably the worst service I've ever experienced. Booked a mother's day meal for 7 people for 2:30pm. We weren't seated until 3:45pm and weren't even given menus until around 4pm after asking for them 3 times... Food wise - not really much seasoning on anything and the roast potatoes had obviously been reheated as they were impossible to chew through. Everything else was pretty average. We had to clear our own plates as no one came to do it, and then desserts were brought whilst our dirty dishes were still on the end of our table which we had moved for them. At the end of this horrendous meal the extremely rude 'front of house' lady did very little in the way of apologies, and also accidentally charged us £92 extra for drinks on the table which we didn't have... Another 10 minutes stood at the till trying to sort this out really topped off the fact that this is a terribly ran and managed restaurant, with inexperienced staff. We saw 3 waiters set a table between them - no wonder our service was so slow.

I went for our Christmas works do and its such a beautiful restaurant. Set in an old church it still retains the wonderful stain glass window and period type furnishings. The food is lovely, including vegetarian choices too. I'd recommend a try at this unusual setting. I loved it

I would like to give a huge thank you to all members of staff including Gary,Matt and all the waiting staff, for your outstanding food and service for my sons recent 18th birthday meal. All 16 persons present commented how lovely the food was presented and tasted.I would highly recommend The Church Restaurant to everyone. Thanks again Anne -Marie 😊

Staff very friendly, welcoming and attentive. Had the three courses for £17.95. Special mention to the lovely homemade mushroom soup with generous portion of bread and butter. Nice surroundings, will be visiting again soon.

What can one say we were taken for mothers day to this restaurant we have never been before and we can say without a doubt we will never go again. I felt really sorry for my daughter because she was so upset. We were booked in for our meal for 2.30 we arrived slightly early and we were told out table was being cleared and set up we accepted that of course as we were early and went to have a drink in the bar.3.30 they came and said the table was ready we sat and waited for a menu after half hour my son in law went to ask for them three times he had to ask before they were brought. When they came for the order we thought that it would improve but we were wrong .the sauce on garlic mushrooms was watered down the pork which said had crackling on didn't .there is a difference between vegetables beiing edentte and not cooked we moved all the dirty dishes to the bottom of the table as they seemed to have a problem clearing tables.but the were bringing the desert out while dirty dishes were still there .so now think on if you are thinking of going there this could happen to you.Oh and check your bill as they tried to over charge by 92pounds
