We stopped for a quick visit after walking around the area. We really liked the coffee and walnut cake and biscoff brownie. Quite big slices of both. The cafe was unfortunately not very full compared to the other tea rooms in the area, but had a good variety of meals also
We were in Bourton-on-the-Water in the morning and decided to have a quick bite here. The queues weren't that bad as we are past the bank holiday weekend and we were able to get a table easily. Recommend the sausage rolls, they're huge and tastes really good. If it's a hot day, they also have a milkshake and an ice cream stand you can access through the windows.
Lovely cafe close to river with indoor and outdoor seating. Food looked delicious and the service was quick with friendly staff. We had two fabulous sausage rolls, hot chocolate and coffee.
Spoil yourself! If you reserve a table and an afternoon tea here and in advance you will not regret it. We received a great selection of veggi sandwiches and a selection of home made scones and cakes. All was prepared with so much care and love! The food was so tasty and yummy. Staff were friendly and helpful. Thank you so much for making our trip and visit so special.
I had a mars bar chocolate brownie which was delicious and a huge pot of tea for £2.50 no price on menu page. However, many of the food items on display don't have prices on them and a sign said 'cake of the day + hot drink £5.50'. There was a big queue by the cakes so I asked the young staff doing ice cream & milkshake what cake was special and they answered rudely "I don't know what you mean?!" I explained about the sign and said "don't you work here?" and "is this the same business?" they were uninterested in what I had to say. Later my sister told me the girl was laughing behind my back just because I asked. It's a shame because the food was reasonable but the lack of prices and some moody staff didn't help. You decide where to go.
Location 5 star. 3ish stars for coffee, service and food. Soy lattes scolding hot. Coffee making needs work and a dedicated barista to reach perfection otherwise slightly touristy. Little chaotic inside behind the till... You guys need a better clean cut system. Someone taking the orders, others running the show. This way nothing is missed. The cakes and cookies are lovely.
We had a great lunch here – delicious pastries, soup and coffee and cake! Selection is rather modest but we got everything we needed. Friendly staff and cosy, comfortable environment. Would highly recommend it.
Cakes looked fantastic and highly calorific! The cafe also sells ice cream, slush drinks etc that you can access without entering the building. Had a frothy cappuccino. Was not very hot nor did it taste very strong. It might have tasted nicer if the waitress could have made eye contact with me. Surely the point of having fake eyelashes is to attract more eye contact? Just saying ... Perhaps she was stressed: there is a notice outside the cafe saying they are short staffed so drinks are being served in disposable cups. Plenty of outdoor seating on the green overlooking the road / river. Indoor seating too. The Chestnut Tree is separate business to Chestnut Bed and Breakfast.
Brilliant food, the chips were fried to perfection and the gammon steak was very good and the portion sizes were very large especially the children's meal. The staff are very friendly and approachable. The children's meal also comes wih a very large scoop of Cotswolds ice cream. Overall the food was very good.
Really nice cafe, loads of cakes and toasties available and they also do afternoon teas which looked nice. Reasonable prices for the location and friendly staff
