Fabulous! Booked at short notice for an overnight stopover. This place is a gem. Such a warm welcome. Our Labrador dog Ted was made very welcome so we felt very relaxed. The staff team couldn’t have been more friendly and accommodating. The room was lovely and spacious with fluffy towels, complimentary toiletries, biscuits and hot chocolate. Dinner and breakfast delicious. Highly recommended - we will be back. Thank you for everything.
I stopped for lunch which was adequate if uninspiring. Sausage & mash served w/ peas and gravy and 2 small pots of tea. The sausages were the best part of the meal ; the mash tasted like it had been made from Sunday's leftover roast potatoes ; the peas were adequate ; the gravy was a stock cube, very watery and flooded everything ; the tea was also very weak and watery until I went back out to my car to get more teabags to add to each pot. A little under £20 is not that expensive for a pub lunch nowadays . . . BUT it certainly wasn't worth any more ! The service was friendly and efficient. Your * system doesn't allow to score the 2.5 I would have wished !
Bianca and Kayley couldn’t have made us more welcome absolutely awesome. Food excellent, breakfast superb. Rooms beautiful Will definitely be going back when we are this way again. Thank you Rooms: 5/5
Beautiful traditional pub with an amazing roaring fire and the loveliest of staff and management! I stayed and found the room comfy and cozy. Even the locals were welcoming and lovely to spend time having a drink or a few with! Highly recommended
Lovely traditional pub with very welcoming staff, I stayed here in one of the luxurious rooms for a week and I got very amazing service. The food was outstanding I couldn’t fault it at all. Would highly recommend for a little getaway, you definitely won’t be disappointed!
Birthday meal, pre ordered food still resulted in close to an hour wait to eat. When food scampi and chips arrived it resembled something from wimpy in the 1980s and the chips and peas were cold. staff were apologetic but was still charged for the food, they blamed staff shortage and number of bookings... if you can't manage the bookings, dont take the bookings. Ruined my birthday meal, will not be back.
This is a once in a lifetime experience unless you’re lucky enough to be a local as I am absolutely wonderful staff caring and hard working, always helping and willing to do anything in their power to make the experience the best, the food is unreal absolutely perfect every time I will not tolerate one person who speaks ill of this place
Atmosphere was great, service was enthusiastic and quick. Food was excellent. Highly recommend trying their burgers!Service: 5/5
On arrival as staying the night , had wedding that day, could not get in as main door was locked even though opening times stated 10.30 open. Go there at 11.00. Waited in carpark then saw someone put rubbish out this was 11.30 and said door is locked and what time do you open as have a room booked, she said come in back way, no signage to tell this. Got key followed another lady up the stairs which had books, toys , cables on them not a good start. Room was nice, apart from no cold water in tap. Once in room realised had not asked for payment so went down and caught the lady to pay, then asked what time was breakfast as when booked breakfast was included to be told , sorry no breakfast. So that was a disappointment. The pubs 7 rooms were booked to guests going to the wedding who all booked with breakfast included. Would of been nice if we had been given an discount. Would not stay again as £85per room without breakfast i feel is to much.
Brilliant! Booked last minute for a family get together for 11 of us. The staff were friendly and went above and beyond to cater for all our needs. Service was excellent. We all had various Sunday roast which was wonderful with 3 meat options - Lamb shank, Pork and chicken and a vegetarian option, all with veg and trimming and gravy. The nut roast was freshly made and very tasty, we would highly recommend to others and will be returning again soon. The food was served quickly which having a newborn baby was ideal and the food was piping hot too. They even offered kid meals and alternative options to the roast dinner. The pub was lovely, clean with a nice warm atmosphere.
