Today is September 28 2024 Today I went in to have breakfast. I had their Fresh Fruit Bowl, I also had Cappuccino with Honey with some Caramel Cheesecake. Their place of business is clean and the service was excellent. I had a good experience in their eatery.
I’ve been finding the recent verbal reminders from staff about their tip option on the debit machine a little much lately. Today, after under an hour, and with five other booths open, a man told me in an unfriendly manner that he would have to get me to move to another table if they get busy because of the power outlet at the table I was sitting at. His manner of communication was cold and I felt that I was no longer welcome. This has been my go-to spot to meet with a friend each week but I will be bringing my business to other coffee shops instead, moving forward, after such an embarrassing and aggressive encounter. The coffee shop “culture” is not present at this location. It’s clearly just “give us your money, eat, and get out”
I’ve been coming to coffee culture for almost 5 years now since moving to the downtown core, and typically rave about the atmosphere, food and staff. Today’s experience was nothing like usual, the man working was quite nice and still made a nice coffee, I won’t discredit that, but the lady taking my order was snappy and rude. I know food service is a difficult industry, and we are all humans and have bad days but I was made to feel incompetent for specifying “extra sweet” opposed to the exact number of sugars I’d like in my iced coffee. I was considering leaving a review for just the service alone, but typically wouldn’t do such a thing. That was until I found a hair in my brownie, which makes me consider whether it was done personally because of the bad interaction we had. Attached is a photo. As a regular coffee culture customer, I was shocked at the service received today.
Today the staff treated us so poorly. I spent a under 5 minutes in the shop and this happened. We entered the shop and were told to come up when we’re ready to order. But first we wanted to find a seat and i needed to plug in my phone. Then we were approached again and told we need to make a purchase in order to sit in and use the plugs, we agreed. Then a third time in under 5 minutes we were approached to come to the front when we are ready to order. At this point the tone of the staff and the suspiciousness of them got to us and we felt that we were not welcome. We decided to respectfully take our business elsewhere, and they yelled at us as we left the shop that this place wasn’t somewhere we could come to just use wifi and plugs. I can sympathize with shop owners not wanting loitering but to make us feel so rushed and unwelcome was not right. I grew up in London and have always come to this place for coffees and lunch with friends. The shop was nearly empty today and i needed a minute to sit down and decide what I wanted before ordering. We weren’t rude or disrespectful in any way and weren’t using laptops or anything. Just looking for somewhere to charge my phone while we had lunch. Won’t be returning here now.
Was asked in a somewhat aggressive manner to move to another table because I was occupying one of the only two tables with plugs. Well, I was using my laptop and we had purchased both drink and food. It’s not a student friendly place. They want you out quickly. Also the place was practically empty, why bother your customers then?

Ordered from here on UberEats.. When we received the order we were incredibly disappointed, the NY Bagel w/Cream Cheese had next to no cream cheese on it. Our $11 Turkey sandwich has ONE slice of Turkey and doesn’t even taste good! The Oreo Ccino was good despite being thin and runny. Apple Fritter was a bit overdone as well. Will not order again.

Great atmosphere, friendly staff, great beverage! Went there recently for a first date and I'm glad we agreed upon this place. Recommend to anyone who would need a place for their first date! :Food: 5/5
The inconsistency with the quality of lattes has caused me to go elsewhere. I received a 3/4 full $7 latte yesterday!!! Not a little was missing -- a lot!!!!! Unbelievable. For a mediocre tasting beverage to boot AND no one knows how to properly foam milk for lattes. Always bubbly and not silky smooth. The time before, I sat in the restaurant and they charged me for a large latte, but when they gave me the mug, it was a different size but told me it was considered the large in-house mug...... and yet the take out large is bigger my regular go to. I'm confused how you charge the same price but give me less to stay in your restaurant? Nah. Not how you acquire customers. Time to find somewhere better!
