Story

Welcome to The Butterscotch Bakery! We are a delicious new bakery, based on Hyndland Road in Glasgow specialising in celebration cakes, wedding cakes, cupcakes and sweet treats for all the family. We are also very happy to offer an extensive range of gluten free products.

Our Tearoom on Hyndland Road offers a large selection of cakes, cupcakes, scones, biscuits, Illy Coffee and speciality free-trade loose leaf tea. Pop in to enjoy a slice of cake and a cup of tea, served in vintage china cups, in our relaxing friendly environment. We offer a bespoke celebration and wedding cake service, just nip in and speak to Rachel about your design ideas and she'll design a cake just for you. We also offer a selection of gluten and dairy free cake and cupcake options.

The business was born from a love of cakes, mainly celebration and wedding cakes. All cakes are handmade and made fresh every day to order. Where possible we use local ingredients and always use fair-trade products as well as only using free range eggs. Please have a look through our photo albums and if you see anything you like please let us know. All our celebration and wedding cakes are made specifically for the individuals, this means we can tailor our cakes to exactly what you're looking for.

Got my 50th Birthday cake purely by chance from them as we live nearby and wanted to use a local business. I wasn’t disappointed at all! The cake was huge, looked amazing and tasted delicious. In fact lots of people commented on how delicious it was and we really appreciated how quickly it was made and the fact that they had catered for all tastes, including a gluten free top tier! Would definitely recommend them for any occasion and will be back for sure!

The butterscotch bakery made my sons 8th birthday cake after I was let down by another baker, I am so glad we were let down as the cake was amazing. We were quite fussy with our requirements but the bakery fulfilled our expectations and more  the baker made the most tastiest cake our family have tried in a long time. We were  blown away with how fantastic the cake looked my son wanted “The eye of Cthulhu” made into a cake, the sponge was soft and moist, the buttercream was perfect. We picked our cake up the day before, the two girls who boxed our cake and served us were delightful. The shop was beautiful inside. We even purchased some Victoria sponge, a cupcake and some butterscotch cake to try that day. Highly recommend this bakers 5*

Excellent GF choices, lovely ambience, lovely staff. Proper tea in a pot... Very insta friendly, but also actually GOOD.

Literally the BEST cake I have ever tasted....and I'm a bakery hound, so I've tasted a lot of cake. Got two cakes one chocolate, one vanilla for a small family wedding outside of Glasgow. The guests fought over the few leftover slices...and we finished them off the next day! Absolutely fantastic!

Nice, small business. The women there were extremely friendly and the cupcakes tasted really good despite being obviously expensive. The dining area is very posh and feels like being in an old tea room but more child-friendly.

Was badly let down by a baker for my boy’s 15th birthday. Cancelled at 4pm on Friday for party today. After frantically calling about, Butterscotch Bakery said they could help us. Now my kid is autistic, and very particular about his cake. It had to be chocolate sponge, with chocolate frosting. And they even were able to decorate with a football pitch. It was amazingly good. Everyone loved it, and very affordable. Highly recommended! Will definitely go here first next time I need a cake.

Amazing cake. Yum yum yum yum yum. Only drawback is not having proper baby changing, so I did a lot of cake takeaway while on my mat leave instead! Though they do have high chairs now he's bigger!

Nice cakes but awful service!! I was hoping to use this baker for my wedding cake but they are very very unreliable. After no response to my initial enquiry emails, I popped in for a quote and was promised that the designer would be in touch. 2 weeks later and still no word, I decided to call and chase up. After spending the time explaining what I was after, the girl told me she'd email me a quote. Still nothing. I called again and explained my frustration do they want my business? the girl apologised, took all my details and promised me a call back. Still nothing. 3 emails, 3 phone calls and a visit to the store over 8 weeks and still no response! Defo not reliable enough to make my wedding cake. Will take my business elsewhere...

The Butterscotch Bakery supplied a beautiful Rennie Mackintosh cake for my Mother in Laws 85th birthday celebration two weeks ago - it was almost too beautiful to cut into but we managed! Tasted great too- a massive thanks to Katie and her team
