This place is outstanding. I just looked for somewhere that offered full breakfast but stepping inside was something else. A bit like stepping back in time with a modern twist. The House and the decor are great. So cool. So vintage. Real china, lots of wood, impressive lighting. And then the food was great. A big pot of breakfast tea too not one of these miserly ones you tend to get. And they had a raspberry and pistachio gluten free cake, so I had to squeeze a slice of that in as well. The girls and boys were welcoming, friendly, helpful and real joy. Feels like a nice place to work. My wife just asked if we were going back for breakfast tomorrow. “Hell yes” I said! Dietary restrictions: Gluten free bread and cakes
The best afternoon tea I have ever had! I was on my honeymoon, visiting from NYC, and we had the best time here. We’re coming back to Glasgow for a highland hike tour, and we are spending a full day in Glasgow solely to come back here for afternoon tea. If you’re willing to fly 6 hours to go here, I’d say it’s pretty damn good! It’s very affordable. We have pretty garbage afternoon tea places in the city, and it’s made worse by how expensive they are. I also loved the atmosphere, and the girl serving us. I don’t remember her name, sorry! She had a lot of nice things to say about the owners, and how she felt like they treated everyone like family. That really matters to me personally, and I think it reflects that in their food.
Decided on The Butterfly and the Pig for Sunday lunch because it looked interesting. Service was pleasant with Lauren but even BETTER when she handed us off to another server who had an amazing sense of humor, sadly didn't get her name. Mushroom fritters shouldn't be missed! Perfectly crisp and outstanding flavor! Love the tiny bit of spice that develops as you enjoy the bite. Sunday roast with sirloin wasn't hot, just barely warm even cold in places of dish, but still yummy with horseradish. The accompanying carrots were OUTSTANDING! Steak pie was beautiful and perfectly tender, order with mash, you won't be disappointed! If you're not from the UK, make note, if you want to dine in the restaurant, you must make a reservation, however, you may eat in the bar area, which is just as nice.
Super friendly staff and great laidback feel. I went for the Sunday lunch and wasn’t disappointed. I had the ribeye roast, nice and pink and ate absolutely everything. Super nice veggies and enough gravy, which for me, is important for a roast. I squeezed in a sticky toffee pudding with ice cream and that was great as well. Highly recommended, I will be back
Absolutely delicious food, great selection of beers and super friendly staff. I had gammon steak and it was probably the best I’ve ever had. My friend had the gluten free fish n chips and she said it was incredible. Then she finished it off with gluten free sticky toffee pudding. Heaven! Highly recommend.Food: 5/5
Really enjoyed our dinner at The butterfly and the pig. Authentic, local and regular live music. Good recommendation off the beaten track. Must try is the pork belly bites!
When your menu reads like a novel, you know you’re in for a bangin good time I loved everything I ordered, from the fried mushrooms to Sunday’s roast of the chicken variety. Whatever herb/seasoning the chicken was roasted with was *chefs kiss*. My partner got the gambas to start and he didn’t quite like that one however. Flavours were a little confusing, but perhaps it’s a local rendition of the Spanish dish? He loved the steak pie however, so that made up for it. For dessert, we asked the wait staff for recommendations - wholly expecting her to point to the sticky toffee pudding as most places had so far - and was surprised when she told us that the pavlova was better than the pudding. One enormous portion later, no regrets! One of the better pavlovas I’ve had. Regarding atmosphere, the place was cosy and quaint, but because of their pub/bar area next door separated by a curtain you get quite a bit of noise bleed through. Not unpleasant, but got a little loud at times. Service was excellent however, and I would love to come back for more Sundays roast when I’m in town!
Good food, nice staff, and easy place. However it was really crowded and noisy, even too. This should be improved noise management.Food: 4/5
I ordered a burger, it was way too big and a challenge to eat. However delicious and a very good in price. Adding the fried egg was everything I needed. The staff were super busy but all very attentive and friendly. The bar was chaotic but a fun energy and they were having a pubquiz night. I wish I could have stayed, it looked very entertaining! They only had a few seats open that weren't reserved, so maybe reservations are best. Thanks y'all!
Food was okay, as the steak which we ordered medium rare came out as well done, while there was a wee bit too much salt on the risotto. The former was rectified with a replacement steak, and not being charged for it totally surprised. Happy with the recovery by the team, so +1 to the team. Honestly felt that the waitress was condescending when we asked to take the food orders after the drinks came. She said "There are other tables that we are waiting to take orders first, but we can take yours". Honestly an unnecessary comment if you aren't interested in taking our order. Totally could sense her unhappiness in being asked to take an order after that. Surprisingly quiet on a Fri night!
