I highly recommend this restaurant. It is very value for money. I am very grateful with Marc, the waiter who attended me, since he was very kind and thoughtful to provide the best quality on my lunch time. Also the food is delicious, I really enjoyed trying the different flavour and textures. I have been there once and I can not wait to come back and try every different option. Virginia
The blonde girl and the funky guy are so kind and they were so friendly. The funky guy is so good at latte art he is my inspiration. The blonde girl made me some delicious food. 100% recommend. Gobbled it all upFood: 5/5
Nice snug cafe, with great coffee and pastries. Can sometimes be queues to get seating inside. But there is also seating outside weather depending.
This restaurant is a beautiful place to eat in the heart of Cork city, either if you just want to enjoy a weekend brunch or have a nice dinner out. Their menu is extremely varied and caters for most people. And every week they have a lunch special that usually brings the taste from Asia, Thailand, China, etc to Ireland. They have a great brunch menu with lovely homemade pancakes, omelettes, and avocado toast among other delicious choices. They have also the option to order homemade granola and porridge for take away so you can enjoy a healthy and tasteful breakfast while in the office or on your way to work. We are regular customers as we love the coffee and brunch there, but this time we wanted to try the new evening tapas menu. We were very impressed with the selection as there were plenty options to choose from Mexican tortilla chips with Vegan dips option to garlic prawns or jackfruit burgers. For two people I would recommend to ask for 4 to 5 tapas, and that will be plenty food. You will definitely feel full. As for the desserts the photos speak for themselves, amazing. They were so lovely we didn't know if to eat them or contemplate them. The Head chef Eli has magical hands. The price is a little higher than the previous evening menu they had, but it is worthy if you want to try something different and food was beautiful. If you want to get an idea of the food they serve, have a look at its Instagram account @thebookshelfcoffee as they are ver active there, and everything you will see it is honestly what you will find in the restaurant. The staff is so friendly you will feel like home, and they welcome you with a smile. Always. The atmosphere is cozy and warm, perfect for a date or to enjoy a casual dinner with friends.
really good creamy coffee, came at a busy enough time and the staff were still lovely and accommodating as always, have some cool specialty drinks aswell, which they were out of today, but will definitely be back to try :
A wonderful place for breakfast and coffee. We were in Cork for 4 days and we came here everyday. The coffee is one of the best that I have had in a long time. Their homemade porridge is also delicious. You can buy coffee beans there, they also sell and make their own peanut butter, coffee soap and travel mugs. Almost a 5 star if it was not for the french toast. It cost 13 euro and you get one slice. This would not deter me from revisiting however I would not order the toast again.
I was recently able to visit this specialty coffee shop whilst on holiday. I walked a bit to get here. Unfortunately one of their grinders was broken so I couldn't get a V60 brew, but I had a flat white. A friend had a cappuccino and another friend had a cold brew coffee from The Barn Kombucha I think it's called. We all enjoyed our coffee to take away. It was a small but well appointed cafe, with a very cool mezzanine level. They have lots of excellent coffee from The Barn Berlin on sale as well as a good selection of gear that one may require for home brewing. Highly recommended and I will be revisiting!
I sincerely value the Bookshelf. The Bookshelf in of itself is a bit of a rebel. They buy German roasted beans from the Barn. Their espresso machine "The Black Eagle," makes a consistent cup of coffee throughout the day. The staff do their best to insure that you have a memorable experience. Each time that I visit I am greeted with the same warm smiles and welcoming. They know that I have an espresso and that I am willing and eager to learn about coffee. Their brunches are amazing. The new renovations have really brightened up the place.

Scones were super moist and come with butter and fresh raspberry jam. Raspberry or dried fruit scone options. Oat milk flat white was also great. Would come again! There’s a toilet for customer use too
