The Boathouse Restaurant and Cafe overlook the mere, an ancient glacial lake, nestled in Ellesmere, North Shropshire. It's the perfect place, to relax and unwind while enjoying spectacular views and great tasting food and drinks.

If you would like to make a reservation in the Restaurant please call us on 01691 623852. No reservations are required for our the Boathouse Cafe.

Lovely welcome from the staff. Real fire hits differently on a cold day! Quick friendly service at the table and food was quick and gorgeous. Really clean and busy too. Great stop on a long bike ride for 3 hungry cyclists.
Needed more information at the entrance to the mere. We went right which took us to the Boat House which had a very expensive in my opinion menu. £8 for a sandwich and there were five of us so we had to look elsewhere. To be fair they did let us in to use the loos much later because on the mere map it still shows public loos but there aren't any. Still a lovely place and we might stop for lunch another time. There was a snack bar at sculpture trail but the entrance map needs updating.
We didn't stop to eat wrong time for us. The food looked really good. Very busy place. Great location by lake. Eating in or outside. If they were open later in day we would definitely have eaten here.
Absolutely beautiful food, relaxed atmosphere with stunning scenery outside and the staff was very attentive to our needs with my daughter whose autistic and partially sighted.... we will definitely be returning
We initially popped in for a coffee as we were walking past, and decided to have scones too as we saw them being served and looked amazing. The restaurant was so nice, we booked to go back for Sunday lunch and it didn't disappoint... Everyone was really happy with their meal and portion sizes are generous. Would definitely return
