"A boutique basement wine bar and kitchen founded by two Master Sommeliers. Open Tuesday - Saturday from 5pm. Located within the energetic epicenter of Soho, on the corner of Old Compton St and minutes from theatreland, we are the West-End’s go-to wine destination. The venue was once home to TRADE – a members’ club for The Hospitality Industry, which had a “Black Book” of hand-scribed fine and rare wines, the secret Black Book become so popular with our guests, it made sense to name the wine bar after it’s legacy. At the Black Book you will find London’s largest ‘by-the-glass’ list stocked within our walk-in Coravin Cellar as well as an accompanying bar snacks and finer food menu."
Really nice experience. Nice place to go out to chat and relax. Good selection if wines and you can only select a glass if you want. We were a group of 5 and we booked a table which was spacious. Overall nice experience and would recommend it.
Great atmosphere, big selection of wines many by the glass. Snacks are tasty and well prepared. Personnel is very friendly and attentive.
This must be one of the best wine bar in London. Fantastic selection of wine, by the bottle and by the glass. Very reasonably priced, the waiters are friendly and knowledgeable, good vibe without being too busy. Highly recommended and will definitely be back.
What cocktails! Superior mixologist! New York Sour reinvented with a red wine foam! Amazing.
Useless service, had to ask for a food menu several times, then had to ask to be able to order. My friend ordered a cheese platter then the waiter literally sped off before I could even open my mouth to order what I wanted. I wanted to order three things, and the waiter kept trying to leave after I said each item. Additionally, the food was really nothing to write home about. The tempura courgette flower was completely cold inside and the cheeses were not all that nice.
Nice food, waiters and atmosphere. Not really a place that you can find straight away, it's a little hidden with no signs that it is a restaurant.
Great atmosphere, great wines, food lacked seasoning and oomph in my opinion but I still think it deserves 5*
Used to like coming here until today when I was taking my girls for my friend’s 30th bday and met such a rude bouncer. Firstly, I booked a table already - he said same-day booking does not work not my problem - shud’ve been disabled if it didn’t work and he needed to check if he can get us a table. Ok. Then.. he confirmed there is a table, but he became way more rude when he found out one of my friend didn’t bring her ID physically - bear in mind she is on her 30s and did not expect to get ID’d when not going clubbing. The worst part is not that he asked for an ID, but how rude he is overall, like asking for a fight. Our friend went by herself to try to find her ID in her car parked 10 mins away but tbh we cannot stand the rudeness so we went to find a better bar.
Really nice ambient, welcoming staff, took a while to get served even though it wasn't very busy, bur very good.
Racist bar!!!! Didn't let us in because we were Asian and assumed we wanted karaoke bar when we just wanted a bloody cocktail to end our night!
