While the Big Bus Tours London provided a great overview of the city's landmarks, I found that the path of the trip was not clear enough. It would have been helpful to have more detailed information about the route and stops, both on the bus and in the provided materials. Despite this, the overall experience was enjoyable, and the commentary was informative.
We got a 2 day pass with the one-way river cruise and free walking tour option. Don't sleep on the free walking tours! We fell in love with Alex and went on a 2nd one of his tours which wasn't in our plan because he did such a great job and was so sweet and knowledgeable. We also happened to be there during a state visit and he got us lined up in the best spot to see the King- we would have had no idea if not for Alex! We loved the boat ride on the Thames too - very relaxing and great overview audio tour of what we were passing by the staff on the boat. Unfortunately, we didn't get to utilize the bus as much as we would have liked but it was easy to find the stops by using their app and they did provide ear buds for the audio. The audio guide left much to be desired - more information and less skit-acting would have been preferred and there were long pauses as we passed iconic buildings that I would have liked to learn about. Rush hour did make you feel a bit like a sitting duck and we barely went a quarter of the loop in an hour which is one of the reasons we didn't get to utilize as much as we liked, so -- be sure to go during off-peak times. Overall if you're new to London and want to get the lay of the land it might be worth it to try it for a day so you can do a loop. The debate of the city bus is a good one and for the price of a bus ride you can see a lot of similar things - that being said, if want that fresh air/open top especially across the bridges and a bit of information while you ride, as well as, a guaranteed loop around the cities major attractions to be able to say you've seen it all plus the free tours and boat ride it may be worth it to do at least a day of the Big Bus...then maybe graduate to the city public bus. If you can't afford this tour though you can see the Big Bus' map and try and create a similar tour for yourself looking at the city bus route <3
Definitely the way to see all the sights if you are limited on time or mobility! All the people we met were very helpful and friendly about directions to attractions. Many people had strollers with them and it was easy to get on and off with them as well as find seating. I highly recommend that you know when the last bus picks up for the day because they do end at a very specific time ⌛and you don't want to be stuck somewhere!
The bus is very inefficiently run. I bought tickets in advance. Don't do that. Wait to see the weather. They never sell out. Everyone who buys a ticket day of has to buy a ticket on the bus itself because the driver does both jobs. A city bus is much cheaper and much faster. They also take 15 minute break stops. If you think you can see more, guess again. On a wet day the bus is so full of condensation you can't see out the windows. If you can walk at all just do this with city buses. This is a waste of money. Once they get your money they could care less about service.
Alex was great! Highly recommend the 2 day package! Love that the walking tour and the boat ride were included in the ticket price. This is the best way to see London. So worth it.
Absolutely recommend the Big Bus Tour. We were able to get an eye full of the city on our own, and hop on /hop on wherever we wanted to explore or get a bite to eat. The best deal is the 48 hour hop on / hop off tour because whatever time you begin on day one, is the time you get to end 48 hours later. You almost feel like you really get 3 days. Big Bus tours is a wonderful asset for exploring tourists.
Well organized and easy to follow, especially ton the app. Good historical selection for stops and ride on the London river cruise ticket. Terrible history audio however, could be updated with better stories and background. Most of the times it was classical music playing on the audio
We did the royal tour with Alex today. He was an amazing tour guide, lots of fun facts and got us the best view of the changing of the guards. What I would definitely recommend!
Don’t go with Big bus company London! Go with another bus company! There are several to choose from. Our bus stopped and dropped a bus load of passengers off two stops before the intended stop and drove away. I think they needed to be in another location to make their time table. Everyone had to figure out how to make their way back. We had our kids with us. Several other buses stopped by our stop but none of the drivers would go on to stop 43 and none knew what was going to happen. They dropped us off at stop 41 instead of continuing to Regents street stop 43. We ended up walking the rest of the way. A little more than a mile.
Tour Guide came late… and the Tour was a little too long imo. It was interesting but I wouldn‘t do it again if I had the choice. Maybe is“Jack The Reaper“ just not the right topic for me. Definitely nothing for children under 16-18
