Was an average spoons experience. Food wasnt the best or worst ibe had from spoons, chips were not crispy, but the fish was SUPER crispy. They did help me with a new drink as the Pepsi was a little watery at first. Staff were polite, helpful and food came out very quick.
Oof. I had food here three times, the two dinners were pretty awful although dirt cheap, the early breakfast was good and great value.n1 Mashed potatoes with bangers - the mash was literally just a crust that I had to cut with a knife, was probably under a heat lamp for a long time, as were the dry peas. Vegan bangers were hot and fresh.n2 Burger was really bad -- just a cold bap with a less than luke-warm patty and a few pieces of lettuce. None of the promised sauce nor gherkins I had paid extra for; when I asked I was informed they were out of gherkins and was served the sauce separately in time for the patty to be cold as well. Also got chips instead of the salad I requested as standard replacement via the order form...n3 Breakfast was good and hot; I imagine it's because I came early around 8 am so the cooking staff had time.nPrices as always very cheap, tables a bit sticky but overall a nice lively atmosphere.
Went on Sunday late afternoon. Most of the tables still had plates and glasses on and they haven't been wiped. Food on the floor.nA few waiters were serving however, nobody seemed to be on cleaning duty.nAfter finding a decent table to sit at. Through the app the table numbers weren't working. So we ordered at the bar. Whilst waiting there was a lady who started to collect all the plates from the tables and someone else was collecting the glasses. However, the tables were still covered in opened sugar packets contents and was messy.nThey'll could've at least given it a quick wipe though with a cloth and spray if they were going around already so new people could use the tables as soon as they come in...nnDrinks and food came in a couple minutes. Chips were a bit more on the well done side. But we finished off everything.nToilets were clean.
Took longer than usual for our drinks to arrive but it was race day so very busy. Staff at the bar were okay but no-one looked happy to be there. The waiters and waitresses on the other hand were amazing. Lush food service and lush food
We have been coming to Chepstow for over 25 years and I have been going to The Bell Hanger pretty much every time we travel to Chepstow. I am saddened and very disappointed in knowing that one of my favorite places to stop in and have a pint and a little something to eat has gone so downhill. The four of had different meals and yet all 4 were terrible. The Chips were old and cold I also believe reheated in the oven rather than fried. The burgers were over cooked and dry. I have to say that I truly sad and though I am willing to give it another shot I will only give then a 1 star at this time, and that is for their selection of beers.
