Overall 4* breakdown below:nn5* staff - they were brilliant can’t fault them at all. Very friendly, welcoming, took our orders at the bar, provided us drinks.nn4* food - Food wise, came out hot, was nice food, very reasonable pricing / cheap. I wasn’t blown away by the curry it could have been better but as I said can’t argue for the price really so still deserved 4 * the desert was very sweet and very good!nn3* atmosphere - probably me being critical here I want to give them higher because the venue is good location and good local town pub, and everyone in there was great and it was peaceful and quiet - until reference to a song there - but there was 1 drunken mess idiot in there spoiling the atmosphere and shouting and screaming and kicking off with someone on his phone, kept coming in and out of the pub. And staff didn’t do anything about him. thankfully he left on his own accord in the end with no harm or drama. But it did spoil the atmosphere at the time. 3* for the night because of that, I have no doubt that it could be higher tho as I said maybe I’m a bit critical on it but have to be fair. I would go back to the venue for sure though.
Upon arrival, our table had not been cleared from the previous customers, and I had to request that this be done before placing an order. Although the venue was busy, there appeared to be a lack of organisation and effective oversight in managing the dining area, as our table was only partially cleared and not revisited for the remaining crockery & cutlery.nAdditionally, the disabled toilets on the lower floor were unavailable due to a missing internal handle, and the lift required to access all toilet facilities was also out of service. This created a significant accessibility issue.nOur food took approximately 35 minutes to be served and arrived only lukewarm, giving the impression that it had been left standing prior to being brought to the table.nI am a regular visitor to Wetherspoon establishments across the South, and regrettably this was the poorest experience I have encountered. Based on this visit, I would be reluctant to return to this location and could not recommend it.
Was an average spoons experience. Food wasnt the best or worst ibe had from spoons, chips were not crispy, but the fish was SUPER crispy. They did help me with a new drink as the Pepsi was a little watery at first. Staff were polite, helpful and food came out very quick.
A dreadful experience! There was an event going on in Chepstow 24th January, 2026 which drew a lot of people into the town, for which this establishment obviously was not ready or prepared for. It was busy and there only seemed to be a few people serving. There were 5 of us on a table and we each waiting 50 minutes to receive our food. My plate of food when it eventually arrived was cold the haggis special, as was my wife's rice and I mean cold. Totally unacceptable and against food hygiene regulations too, I should think. I'm not blaming the staff as they were obviously trying their best, but this was obviously a case of bad management. Other people who were also waiting for their food to arrive were not bothering to wait and were walking off!
went with a few mates there drinks didn't arrive after an hour and there food was just a small amount of garlic in the middle of a whole garlic bread even after asking about the drinks there never arrived
