In a word the Beehive is - comforting. The holiday decorations are up making for a cosy atmosphere. The pub has been around for a long time and has a quintessential warm ale house feel. We ate and the service and food were both good and matched the price we paid given the current climate. Staff are very cordial, the manager Laura is very helpful. Definitely try the Creamy Garlic & Tarragon Mushrooms on toasted bloomer, and one of their very tasty pies.
Great beer but staff were a little stone faced. Everyone is allowed an off day I guess so I won't mark down for that. I've docked a star only because of the lack of seating available, we had to use the seats in the ground floor restaurant which were set up with cutlery, wine glasses etc even though the restaurant seemed to be closed that night.
Really yummy dinner and nice atmosphere- felt like a proper pub experience. Staff were very friendly and helpful and kept our table for us even though we were late for our reservation. Recommend!
Our Sunday lunch was lovely. Can not fault anything. Perfect crispy roast potatoes lots of vegetables, chicken and beef requests was to our request, a large yorkshire pudding and plenty of gravy. Service was very good too. Will definitely visit again.
Nice feel about the pub downstairs although we were sat upstairs which is quite soulless. Good selection of beers and food was standard pub fayre. Will definitely come back for a few drinks in the future
Nice enough place. Been here a few times to eat. Burger and chips were decent but a bit bland and the pie and mash with gravy was just that with no vegetables. For the price it was ok but definitely lacking a bit especially considering it was quiet when we visited
What a dissapointment this pub was. The website makes it appear like an upmarket gastropub. It is in fact the opposite, just a regular boozer. The food was awful, bland and uninspired. The baguette I had was just soggy bread with virtually no filling, dumped on a plate with a few chips and no garnish at all. Also the bar staff were indifferent, more interested in chatting than serving. Oh yes and they had the cheek to charge a 10% service charge by default, even though there was no service.
Great local pub. Good atmosphere and wide selection of beers. If you’re in the area give a visit you’ll not be disappointed.
I have always liked the Beehive and probably don't use it as much as I should. Called in mid-afternoon with a couple of friends. There were only two other customers. The drinks were well kept and nice and cold. Sat out in the garden at the back. A very pleasant sojourn.
Had Christmas lunch with colleagues it’s was not a great experience for £25 plus drink and tips - seabass was just a literally 2 bites with some veg less than the size of a usual starter and creme brûlée was more like chocolate mousse - had to check if they serve me wrong dessert but they said it’s the brûlée- both not worth the spend ! Wouldn’t recommend at all - ambiance and staff were good but food taste and portion were way below average
