From the minute we walked through the door the staff were warm, friendly and welcoming. The ales are excellent and the triple roast on the Sunday was fantastic. The room was snug and cosy with plenty of supplies for your stay and the breakfast in the morning was delicious and really set us up for the rest of the day. We will definitely stay here again the next time we're in Cheshire.
Great lunch stop for our road trip , just 5 minutes out of the M6. The staff is lovely and the food tasty. Looks like it would be a lovely pub to have food a on cold day aswell , the inside looks so cosy Camille
Lovely place, great friendly helpful staff beautiful food big portions the fish & chips are massive! I went out with a few ex work colleagues, will return with the family very very soon!!
Lovely old building. More of an eating place but fine for a swift half. Nice and cool inside. Also does accommodation
Decided to visit looking at menu, and was not disappointed. Tuesday night and busy but did not affect service too much and staff very friendly and accommodating. Meals hot and well presented, casserole and dumplings delicious. Great atmosphere and service, would definitely visit again if in the area.
What a beautiful pub dating way back to 1615! Very relaxed and welcoming, we hadn't eaten here for a long time, as we found the food not quite as good as expected, however I'm pleased to say they've really turned this around and the food was really really good. 9 of us ate and everyone enjoyed what they had. I've long felt if they got the food right this would be pretty much the perfect pub. Well now it seems they've got it right.
Regrettably, as a firm favourite of mine for special occasions, I've seen standards drop. On a recent visit, the bar and staff who were very attentive as always were overrun with long wait times for any service. The food was average for an above average price. They were trying their best amidst the arrival of a large wedding party, but that party must have been pre booked, and the pub was unprepared. The location, ambiance, car parking, beer garden and dog friendly welcome are still good reasons to visit, but I'll be eating somewhere else for a while.
Lovely country pub with a warm atmosphere and very friendly helpful staff. The food was also really tasty, served hot and in a reasonable amount of time. The only reason it’s not a 5 star review is all the dogs that other customers had. I get it’s a controversial comment but I’m allergic to dogs and as such couldn’t get out of there quick enough. Which is a real shame because it really was an otherwise lovely lunch
The food was excellent. Really good. Tasty and served hot. The service was good and the waitress made sure that she made time where possible to chat and give us some recommendations when we asked. Some of the service did seem a little frantic though. I don't think that this was the fault of the staff though, as I looked around, it did seem like each member of staff had a larger "area" to serve than I've seen in other establishments. This "franticness" didn't spoil our evening at all though although our second drinks were ordered with the bar, but I did have to prompt to see where they were... It is just an observation. Many thanks.
We went to the Bears Head for lunch to celebrate a birthday. We had an excellent time. The pub and restaurant are lovely and the decoration makes it feel cosy. Out lovely waitress Kirstyn, helped us with the menu and offered several recommendations. Our drinks and lunch arrived quickly. Our food was very tasty. Overall a great celebration.
