Central heating in the whole building didn't work. It was on full all the time. Turned the radiator off but doesn't make a difference when the 4inch pipe is scalding hot running through every room. It would've been dangerous if we had little ones with us. Staff not helpful..."open a window"! We did and it made zero difference. Breakfast was awful eggs not fully cooked and again staff very bad. Of the two mornings we stayed the chef came out of the kitchen swearing at other staff very loudly and it seemed normal to them. Next day their computer was down and we were challenged for having to pay for breakfast extra. Instead of checking fully using our name and room number we were left feeling like we were stealing a rubbish breakfast. Innocent until proven guilty! Zero service! All in all don't go anywhere near this place again. The only saving grace for my humanity was the housekeeping lady. She spoke to us nicely came into our room and agreed it was too hot, gave us an iron and told us to be careful when using it as it might be on maximum temp. She should be front desk and run the place! Everyone else get rid or don't allow them out in public. Updated: your staff informed us the heating problem was known for some time. That doesn't match the best we can reply. These things do happen but they are addressed promptly and professionally by better establishments. No response to the other issues you have with your staff. Updated - as the new management of a week ago, it seems odd you've replied to reviews as far back as a year ago as the owner and specifically as far as a month ago as manager in the review. It would be far better to be accurate and factual than empty platitudes on Google review.

Went on Mother's Day so very busy, ran out of many food items on the menu substituted for different fish or steak. Most of it was good some could be better. The service was not bad in consideration of how busy it was. I would go back, maybe on a day not so busy.

Not been to the Bear's Head for a while until today. The food is exceptional and very good value. The staff are very pleasant friendly and helpful we will certainly be going back very soon.

Good food, and good wheelchair access! Would recommend for wheelchair users as long as you can manage the bumps on the pavement. Inside is nice and even.

Lovely venue. We had gone for lunch based on the lunchtime 2-courses for £11.95 seen on the website. However when we got there it was withdrawn due to a Valentine special 3-course meal! The chicken & thyme and stake & mushroom pies were lovely. However we ordered coffee and mini-desert. The coffee's came after quite a delay and the deserts never materialised!! So a bit of a mixed experience!
