Bit disappointed as had heard nice things. Lots of items on the menu were out of stock. Food was well presented but starters were pretty small, and the pork main was really tough. Cutlery wasn't replenished between courses we had to steal it off another table.
The food at The Beagle has improved. The Sunday roast is delicious and generously portioned. You can ask for amendments to your vegetables or anything on the dish, if you need to. They do try their best to accommodate the changes/dietary requirements. There is an onsite free car park. The Beagle pub restaurant is quaintly decorated and has an outdoor seating area too. Most of the staff are friendly and helpful.
Took our Beagle to The Beagle and it was fabulous! Friendly atmosphere, cosy and warm fires, excellent food with a good variety of options and the quality was exceptional! Very welcoming to dogs also with dog blankets on offer and water bowls. Dogs are only allowed in the bar area but there was plenty of space when we arrived. Will definitely be visiting again!
Looks lovely from the outside. Nice sitting area, a lot of greenery. However, tables haven't been cleaned. We had drinks, mains and desert. Staff forgot about our deserts. So after 30min we went to ask for it ourselves. No one asked if we have enjoyed our food. Which I haven't. I am not heavy eater but my main was more like a starter. Usually I am full after main. I have been waiting for a desert with a passion as I have still been hungry. Even if it was dish of the day, it was plain, tasteless, lack of feta cheese. Desert has been lovely. For the price I have paid and food I have received, I would not go back. 3 starts only because of the surrounding. Other then that it would be less..
Very traditionnal english good food. Tabatha our waitress was really kind with us and she even speaks a bit of french with us. We had a wonderful time there. Very nice decoration and appreciable fire places.
Boxing Day dinner. Parking there was fine with no issues, but not many spaces left. We got seated straight away. The restaurant had a good ambiance, was cosy and set out with enough room and privacy. The floor showed a lot of debris though, no doubt from the footfall. It was otherwise clean, including the toilets. Food. The food in general was well presented and had taste. Starters; I know they are starters, but felt that they were more like tasters. There could have been, slightly larger portions. For example, there were only 2 balls of Arancini I believe the norm is 3?. The bread with the duck and salmon dishes both tasty, was limited to a slice on each. Another slice they weren't large slices, or the general offer of more bread to the table might have alleviated this. But as I've said, everything was ok and tasty! The main meals were ok.... The fish, pan roasted cod loin, was bland, it tasted watery. The scallops, when found, alright. It was basically fish and some potatoes, with shells. In a, sort of, tomato sauce. No other veg. The pork belly, could have been cooked slightly longer to make more tender. The vegetables were limited/lacking. The crackling was very nice. The apple pie was slightly over done on the pasty. However the roast dinners seemed large and offered no complaints. The desert, wow that was superb. White chocolate cheesecake trio. Was well presented and tasted phenomenal. We would definitely have that again. The Christmas pudding was nice too, but could have had more brandy sauce with it. It did take 30 minutes to receive coffees at the end, that were not very strong and very milky. But were warm. The first waitress we had, it felt like we were causing her an effort. She even incorrectly, corrected the pronounation of Arancini when it was ordered, not a good look. Perhaps she was at the end of a long shift. The second waitress was much more personable and friendly. All in all, it was pleasant. But the high light and what made it, was definitely the cheesecake trio. Yum.
We were fortunate enough to get a table for 4 at quite late notice for our Team Christmas lunch. Over the phone Clare was great. When we arrived we were warmly greeted and shown to a table in front of one of the open fires. There are 5. The service was professional, friendly and really attentive in a timely way. The food quality was excellent. We all choose from the Christmas menu. We all want to go again next year.
Finally made it out of bed on time to try the brunch and was not disappointed . Quite possibly the best cooked breakfast I have ever had! ***Edit 15th August 2022*** Just been again today and the meat feast pizza was top notch and Tab was an excellent new addition to the already professional and friendly staff.
Our Server Tabs, was incredible, she was welcoming, patient and made us laugh. She was really attentive and knowledgeable on anything we had questions about - she is a real asset to The Beagle! The drinks were served swiftly and the order was spot on! The food came out in really good time and hot - it also tasted amazing! The location feels like you could be in the middle of nowhere as it's gardens are quiet and secluded with plenty of seating outside, the pub itself was clean, tidy and had a real relaxed atmosphere - We loved all of it!
High quality pub. Great placement, just outside of town. I've always regarded the Beagle as a place for fine food, and good beers. Comfortable and clean, the staff are always friendly and accommodating. Even when they're busy, service still appears to be steady. Would recommend to anyone and I'll certainly be going again.
