Burnt cheeseburger. Sent it back without any problem. Quickly served another without any fuss and it was burnt again. Very dry burger meat, charred to burnt. I didn't send the 2nd one back but I also wasn't able to eat it sadly. Money wasted. Drinks were good value and serving staff were prompt.Tthe atmosphere was fine. Just failed on the food which was a shame. Photo attached of the second one they made me. It's rare for me write a negative review and even more rare for me to send something back but on this occasion having the same problem after sending it back was a first. Sorry Weatherspoons. I know you can do better at other venues.
On Tuesday, my weekly ‘Walking Group’ had our belated Christmas get-together at Wetherspoons in Witham - there were 19 of us. We had all given our choice of food, and our money to the gentleman organising the meal, so that we didn’t need to individually order when we arrived.nWhen we arrived, we were all able to sit in the same area and our orders were placed.nWithin a very short time, all our meals were served.nWe had really lovely, piping hot food, and excellent, friendly service.nWe couldn’t have asked for more.
I rarely write reviews, but this experience was so bad I feel I have to warn others. We visited a Wetherspoons branch recently and it was hands-down one of the worst pub visits I’ve ever had.nFrom the moment we walked in, the staff were shockingly rude. No greeting, eye-rolling when we asked questions, and sarcastic responses when we politely pointed out issues. There was zero sense of ownership or accountability — it felt like the team simply didn’t care. When our order was completely mixed up wrong drinks and wrong food for half the table, getting it corrected was like pulling teeth. We had to wait ages, ask multiple times, and still ended up with half the order wrong again.nThe tables were filthy — sticky, covered in crumbs and spills from previous customers, and not cleaned properly even after we sat down. It was genuinely off-putting.nWetherspoons is usually reliable for a cheap pint and decent food, but this branch was an absolute disaster. Poor management, rude staff, dirty environment, and basic service failures.nStrongly recommend you avoid this place like the plague. There are plenty of better pubs out there that actually value their customers. Won’t be returning.
An absolute awful experience. Tried a meal which arrived cold, inedible and not as described. Asked to speak to the manager who offered his opinion that he couldn’t do anything with the meals. Picture shows over seasoned chicken and chips, lack of quantity and quality.nnAbsolutely shocking service!!nnAVOID
A nice pub with lots of seating and a nice garden. Staff were friendly. There's a nice ambience in there. The food was typical of a wetherspoons - great value for money and perfectly palatable. I've knocked one star from this review at the behest of my niece, who was quite upset that they had run out of porridge. Otherwise, an enjoyable visit.
