I have been eating here for about 30 years. Food is great and the consistency is outstanding. I occasionally have fish and chips in other places and then wish I had waited to go back to the Ashvale!!!
Had a lovely family meal here. Staff were great and very accommodating especially with us calling up to say we'd be late due to a car breakdown. I would love to give 'The Whale' a go next time. Kid-friendliness: We were given a colouring in sheet and pencils and they have a kids menu Parking: Good sized free car park at the front of the building

Big restaurant with lots of parking They mainly offer fish and chips. I ordere breaded cod and chips for £14.99, not including drink. Portion was ok but not for the price. Fish was ok but the breading was very light. Chips were ok, the beans were ok You get free tartar sauces and ketchup also.
Well deserved reputation for excellent fish and chips. The portions are generous and filling. The fish is cooked perfectly and well complemented by their chips. Beers, wine and soft drinks are available. I tried the Ashvale Whale and it was massive but delicious. Parking: Out front. 20 or so parking spots.
Good place to have a family get together. Fish was tasty, batter perfect. The whole family enjoyed their food. Not been here often, but will be back. Excellent table service during our stay, we were well looked after. Thanks.Food: 5/5
The fish and chips was too greasy, smelled like burnt oil. I took my friend visiting from Norway there to try fish and chips and it was an absolute fail. The staff and the atmosphere were very nice though.
Perfect. Fish and chips restaurant experience done right in my opinion.
