It was a pleasure to spend a night in this hotel. The food was really nice, the clearness was over above even I've paid less then expected... hopefully we'll have the chance to come back

Good hotel with a large car park.  Food and drink is expensive. Small gym. A good walk from Aberdeen. There is a good pub not to far away for normal pub food at pub prices.

Ok, let me start saying that probably I am using the wrong benchmark here (I am comparing with US Hotels) but I believe all the points I will highlight makes sense.
Positive points:
- Location
- Gym, the machines are not new but we have a complete set
- Room was clean and with good maintenance
- Bed and pillows are comfortable
- Breakfast is good
However, this hotel is a typical hotel of many small issues together becomes a big issue. I will highlight some of them:
- No refrigerator in the room. No microwave, but to be honest I do not use microwave.
- Not even a bottle of water in the room (is it too expensive that hotel cannot afford?)
- The desk in the room is too high for the chair, not good to work
- The curtain in the bath is annoying. Because the curtain hanger is straight instead of curve, when you are in the shower the curtain stay touching you all the time. Note that I am not a big person. LOL
- TV is terrible. It is a old Philips TV, bad image and to change from a channel to another takes forever.
- Restaurant is expensive, but if we compare with other hotel is not TOO expensive.
Making a long evaluation short, hotel is above average with many small issues to improve.

I LOVE The Aberdeen Altens! Every time I’ve stayed I’ve received an extremely warm welcome – going way beyond my expectations, it’s so nice to arrive at a hotel to a personal welcome greeting – they really go the extra mile. All the staff are friendly and nothing is too much trouble, the rooms are great and the breakfast is AMAZING – lovely food and a fantastic selection which suits vegetarians also. Jennifer Kidd in the salon is lovely and did a fantastic job putting my hair up for a couple of events (one at VERY short notice). I’ve yet to try the spa but I’m looking forward to doing that at my earliest opportunity. Many thanks Team Aberdeen Altens – you’re awesome! If you’re reading this go and see them – you won’t be disappointed!

Went there to use the gym and pool. Gym is old and small but clean and functional. The pool area is also small but pleasant to use with steam and sauna. Staff were friendly and helpful.
