Thai Bay Bar & Restaurant

Our monthly meal out took us to a hidden gem in a quiet corner of Sunderland. The restaurant menu offers their own slant on Thai cuisine with some popular familiar dishes scattered across the page. We started with two of the sharing platters with our guests opting for the seafood themed one while ours was more meat centered. Each sharing board comes with a couple each of four of the starter selections and they proved to be a great idea as we were struggling to choose single dishes and this gave us a great introduction to the Thai Bay slant on things, chicken skewers smothered in satay, ribs, spring rolls and dim sum for us. Delicious. I had the pork on pork duo main course, a mound of rice topped with crispy belly pork and tender pork slices smothered in a very tasty sauce with another dipping sauce on the side. Jane had the nutty chicken which was served in a potato rosti style bowl and also came with rice, a huge portion, great value. Thai restaurants can be a bit monotonous with the same dishes appearing at them all but Thai Bay just puts enough twist on it to keep it interesting, with generous portions at a reasonable price. Top job, we will be back.

Great experience. Staff were very friendly. Yellow curry was one of the best I have had and my work colleagues also liked their dishes.

Had a fab evening at the Thai Bay. The service was exemplary, reasonable prices combined with excellent food made for a truly special evening. Would highly recommend this gem!
