A big shout out and thanks to the staff at this Tescos for helping my son when his car had a flat battery last Saturday. All were very helpful especially the two lads on the security kiosk at about 7pm that night. Much appreciated.
I like shopping here and the prices are good. However, the self service machines are old fashioned and need updating. You can only put a coin in the small slots one at a time. I was on a self service machine last night and paid for half my shopping with a card. When it came to paying cash for the other half, the machine was card only but there are no signs indicating this. Eventually, I managed to get the attention of the young assistant playing on his phone instead of helping customers. He came over and said I'd have to move to the one machine that accepts cash. There was a big queue and he expected me to join the end of it. So I said, I'm not doing it and walked out leaving the other half with him. I then went to Sainsbury's up the road instead and the machines there are much better. Tesco have only 1 or 2 cash self service machines on and it's not good enough. There should also be signs up indicating which machines accept cash. Tesco are well behind the times and trying to get rid of cash users so I'll use Sainsbury's more instead.
AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE!nnI witnessed a really upsetting incident today at Tesco's. A woman working at the checkout refused to sell some Christmas crackers to a group of university students. I googled the age requirements and was shocked to find out you only have to be 12!! According to Tesco's guidelines the Think25 policy doesn't apply to the sale of Christmas crackers, despite this woman insisting it.nnTwo of the students tried to continue to buy their own dinner as a separate transaction and they were refused, despite them both having their ID's. This was purely because they were affiliated with the earlier transaction with the Christmas crackers which is just ridiculous!! The woman on the checkout had a personal agenda to ensure they could not be served across the whole shop. She contacted her colleagues with their physical descriptions and made a huge fuss over these two poor customers who did nothing wrong. I watched them try to go to another cashier, and before they reached it, a colleague physically snatched their items out of their hands. She accused them of not having their ID's which was simply not the case. This woman clearly had a vendetta and it is disgusting to see such disrespect from a member of staff.nnI approached the couple after to ask if they weer okay and the poor woman was in tears over her experience. I have noted down the cashiers name and will make a formal complaint over this.
Absolutely abhorrent customer service from Shanie at the checkouts today, as well as presumably her supervisor. I’m absolutely appalled by the agressive behaviour shown towards myself and my other half who was brought to tears.nnI think some of the staff need a good reminder that they wouldn’t have jobs if not for us customers and they should look elsewhere for employment if they don’t know how to be polite.nnNever in my entire life have I experienced such behaviour from supermarket staff in Luton where I live, and I don’t think this review reflects on Tesco as a whole.nnAvoid Beeston Tesco at all costs, go to Sainsbury’s round the corner if you’d like to be treated with some respect.
Usual Tesco selling all and everything you need for a weekly shop. Staff are friendly and helpful. Small cafe upstairs, via a travelator, plus toilets. I know I use Tesco but I always fear for the smaller shops trying to compete
