Unfortunately, never a good experience. Always crowded, car park very busy, expect to queue as they don’t open enough checkouts and there are just a few self checkouts. You need to “fight” for a place in the store, many staff from Tesco home delivery with huge trolleys blocking the aisles. A nightmare… Best Tesco in the area is at Napier Road, a bit far but less stress.
Very disappointed!! My wife and I went in one morning, looking to buy a phone charger. The teenage girl serving completely ignored us while we stood by the counter. She went on to speak with 2 of her colleagues, one of them looked us up and down and left. The young lady gave us a dismissive look and left us standing there. After standing there for some minutes, because we assumed she must be occupied with some tidying up- which in itself is inappropriate if customers are obviously waiting. My wife then said we wanted to buy a phone accessory to which she replied she wasn't serving until 10am. This was around 9. My wife then mentioned to her it would be polite to greet customers and let us know instead of leaving us to stand expectantly while she rudely busy herself under the same counter we standing by. Her response was a huff and a haughty look. This was inappropriate and uncalled for. That treatment made us wonder if it at all, it had to do with our skin colour.
Go Tesco you’ve got 3.6 stars you’ve got more complaints than any other supermarket in Berkshire. You are the biggest supermarket chain in England but you get better service better products in Aldi and cheaper prices. No business can carry on without customers and one day you will have no customers you can’t stay at the top with Outkast customers
Excellent value proposition let down by horrific stock/supply chain management and lack of customer focus. The Good: Tesco as a business offer a good range decent quality products at reasonable prices. Their clubcard proposition is excellent - offering amazing rewards and discounts. I am a clubcard plus member and take full advantage of the twice monthly 10% discount and mobile phone contract discount. The checkout staff are generally pretty great and lovely people. The Bad: Tesco wokingham is pretty dysfunctional - trolleys stacked up so far in the bays they block cars, non checkout staff are generally unhelpful and sometimes rude. They have an immense number of shopping pickers who occasionally bump into me or get annoyed when i get in their way - never apologizing or even saying excuse me. Stock is messily arrayed and often random boxes and glass can be found strewn over the floor. Staff chatting very loudly about their night out or something inappropriate such as how much they hate working at Tesco. Stock trolleys are often blocking customer access to aisles. They often have queue's lining up far into the aisles because they don't have enough staff. The Ugly: Stock. I regularly find that about a third of my list is out of stock. They might blame 'supply chain issues', but other local supermarkets manage it fine. I could deal with the issues I listed above if it wasn't a waste of my time going in because a good chunk of my shopping list is out of stock sometimes for weeks at a time. These mostly aren't exotic items either - coriander, large garlic gloves, gem lettuce, chicken breasts etc. Pretty basic stuff. The details matter Tesco.
Haven't been to Tesco for a couple of years for a weekly shop. Went today to Wokingham - loads of stock pickers clogging up most of the aisles and generally getting in the way. Then when you go to pay there are hardly any tills open noon. Had to queue up for about 25 minutes to get served. Then the credit card machine froze up. Not a good experience.
Plenty of parking, best selection of food in Wokingham, tied with Morrisons. The bakery isn't as good as M&S, or as good value as Morrisons, somewhere in the middle. The value range is rock bottom priced, but you get what you pay for. The staff are vacant, they look through you like your a ghost or are too busy chatting to colleagues, not paying attention to customers waiting at tills. Check out the empty veg aisle on the photo.
Twice I have been let down with click and collect and now a delivery the night before hosting a 70th birthday party! Due to ‘technical issues’ Complete waste of space
Good store but not enough self check outs large qué at lunch time. I would recommend using, smart shop/scan as you go to skip the qué.
Bratty and unhelpful staff, spending more time chatting with each other than doing their actual jobs. Some of common produce locations being changed almost weekly which makes it difficult to have a quick shopping trip. Petrol pump could not be less reliable, you'd be fortunate to find 2 out of 4 pumps working at any given time.
In general, an OK store, plenty of choice and quick service, staff are nice. Bakery on the other hand, is sub standard,, donuts are wet and undercooked, bread is dough. It was an excellent bakery until they made changes. Hope it goes back to it's previous system
