My go to Viet whenever I’m in Kingsland Road. Service is friendly and quick and food is good. Come mainly for their grilled meats, which are juicy and smokey! Only downside is it’s cash only… but then I guess most other Viet on Kingsland Rd are the same.
Tasty authentic food with lots of options for everyone one. This is the closest to real vietnamese food I have eaten in London. I would recommend reserving a table for large groupsFood: 5/5
A very homely and authentic Vietnamese restaurant, the service is very attentive. Great beef pho but I fully recommend the Tây Dô special fried rice and the salt pepper aubergine, amazingly juicy and soft the latter. We had the Vietnamese iced coffee and lemonade as well, very nice flavour.Food: 5/5
Didn’t even get to try the food as I left the place without sitting. Restaurant was 80% empty and still I did not receive any greeting whatsoever. Presented myself with my companion at the reception at the end of the room, asked for a table for two people. I was offered a table next to the kitchen so I requested instead a table by the window that was available, the host replied that the table had not been cleaned yet after previous guests, and at my polite request “would you mind cleaning it for us to sit?” I incredibly received as a response “well I actually do mind”. And that was it, we decided to leave the place to not get our good night vibes corrupted.
Superb value, good quality food. It's also bring your own, which is great. Cash only. ATM at the Sainsbury's opposite. Also, ignore complaints about the staff. Someone giving 1 star because there was a £1.50 card fee at a cash only place and threatening to call the police. Talk about entitled! Bottom line: If you want good food, at good prices and even cheaper as you can bring your own then check it out!
Went here on a whim and no regrets. The restaurant is fairly large and the people running it are very friendly. Food arrived quickly and the portions are large. I had the shaking beef while my dining companions ordered pho and the Vietnamese pancake. We also ordered a papaya salad to share. The papaya salad was refreshing and the veggies nice and crisp. The shaking beef had a really yummy sauce. I wish the beef was just slightly more tender. The char on it was delicious and the sauce was great with the rice on the side. I look forward to coming back here and trying more on the menu!
We used to visit this restaurant regularly in the past, and we went back a few weeks ago. For sure, it was our last time. Shocking service!! The waitress was very abrupt, and she didn't have any customer service skills. We ordered many dishes, and they tried to bring them all at the same time!! Unbelievable!!Food: 3/5
Nice flavours, but the food was partly warm and partly cold despite living close to the restaurant. I was also fortunate to have cash when they pointed out that they do not take card. If you are hungry and on your way home during the late hours, they stay open quite late in the evening. Just ensure that you have cash and check the temperature of your food before you leave. Nothing worst than sitting down to cold meal on a cold night when you have had a long day.
My friend and I had an awful experience at the restaurant. We were scammed and treated rudely and unfairly by the manager. We confirmed with the waitress that we COULD pay by card before ordering b/c she wasn’t sure but when it came time to pay, we were asked to pay by cash. The manager claimed the card machine was broken and demanded us to withdraw cash from across the street. When we explained that our card couldn’t withdraw cash and it was not our fault, she unpleasantly asked us to tap our card on her phone. That wasn’t the worst part. The total was 30.50, but we were charged 32 without ANY prior explanation. When we asked for a receipt, my friend noticed the difference and asked why. We thought it was tax or tip she had charged without our consent as we’ve never lived here before. Only then did she tell us there was an additional 1.50 service charge for using her phone to make the payment. We explained again and again that it wasn’t our fault and if we were informed in advance by the payment charge we would have made a different dining decision. We asked for a refund for the extra charge, but she refused and blamed us, saying the waitress had told us it was cash only, which was not true. She was rude by raising her voice and cutting us off while blaming us ‘shouting at her’. She made loads of excuses trying to tell us the deal was done and she couldn’t do anything to help. She wasn’t willing to solve the issue at al. After we mentioned calling the police for help, she offered us a soft drink, but we just wanted our refund because we felt scammed. When we asked for advice to solve the issue, she told us we just had to accept it and police wouldn’t help for the issue worth only 1.50 pound. It was our first time visiting in the UK, and we felt desperate and ended up having to ask other guests for help since we didn’t even know the number to call police. Only then did she give us the refund, accusing us of escalating the situation. We still haven’t received the receipt she promised to email. I don’t mind paying by cash, but I expect to be told upfront and not charged extra without notice. In the end, she even commented that we were the ones ruined our dining experiences. Rude people are everywhere but unfortunately, we had to meet one today. The rest of waitresses were nice to us though.
Food was good, but a bit too oily. Hard to complain about anything particular. Ordered a bún bò Huế spicy beef noodle soup which was just lacking that little bit of flavour in the broth, didn't taste authentic and was not spicy as expected, frog legs in coconut and lemongrass - the frog meat was really juicy, tender and delicious but the gravy was a bit too creamy rich with an overdose of coconut cream, mixed platter was nice but seems like it was cooked twice. Lastly, the restaurant only accepts cash which is not advertised at the door had to withdraw from a charge ATM :
