On Sunday night late at 10pm! we fancied a curry so I did some research and saw the Taste of Mogul came highly recommended. We ordered poppadums of course!, I had a vegetable masala with a peshwari naan and a king prawn biryani for my partner we requested that the king prawn biryani was prepared as a tandoori king prawn biryani which although not on the menu was no problem when we order - already looking good! Food arrived piping hot and within 30 mins. The restaurant even gave us a free bottle of Cobra beer to go with our meal - unexpected and a really nice touch! The poppdums were perfect - crispy and not greasy with a good selection of pickles. The biryani was good and tasty. The prawns were cooked perfectly although there were only 4 and my partner is a big prawn lover so would have liked a few more the biryani curry sauce also had a lovely flavour and loaded with vegetables we would have preferred a few less veg to get more sauce for the rice - but others might like it this way. The vegetable masala was delicious but again I would have preferred a little less veg and little more sauce for dipping the naan bread into. Overall both really yummy well flavoured dishes and avoiding too much grease I hate it when the curry is so full of oil that you can see a layer on the top when you open the packages up - and this curry definitely avoid this pit-fall. yum, yum,yum.
Would never recommend this restaurant. Went last week, and the waiting staff didn't really bother with us, they were hunched over the bar talking to themselves, we had to wait 15mins to get served, despite being the only people there. This carried on through out the meal, we had to go over and ask them for the bill after waiting over 20 minutes, and another long wait for the card machine after asking them. The starter was lovely, but for the main we had a chicken vindaloo and a plain curry sauce, both of which tasted like instant gravy with tablespoons of chili powder thrown in as an after thought, and the sauce was also ridiculously watery and bright red. The soft drinks are also just out of a bottle, so we had nothing but flat, watered down coke all night, not what I would expect. Both of us were sick that night, so I would never go there again.
The greatest curry ever tasted and such good and polite servers. I would definitely recommend this restaurant as every dish we had it tasted really good and all the drinks were not flat. The prices were reasonable and with a 30% discount it was totally wonderful experience and i would definitely come back to eat again. The atmosphere was busy and we look forward to go to Elvis night tribute which we booked via twitter. :
