Story

Welcome to Taj, one of the finest Indian & Bangladeshi Cuisine in Merthyr Tydfil. We treat our guests to a wonderful experience of an authentic Indian and Bengali cuisine, specially prepared using only the finest ingredients. Since 1982 we are running as a family Business. With seating for up to 60 people, our restaurant becomes the destination for seekers of quality Indian food served by friendly and attentive staff. We can cater for your special occasions, be it a meal with friends or a family celebration. We offer a full take away service to allow you to enjoy our Indian delicacies at home.

Basic decor but great service and lovely food. The only negative I'd say is the temperature. It was early march when I was there, just after a week of crazy snow, and the restaruant was cold inside.

Friendly, welcoming and clean. Two of us visited and we each had popadums, starters and mains with accompanying beer (2 1/2 pints each). Onion Bhaji and Prawn Puree starters, Lamb Madras and Mixed Grill mains with naan bread and a Mushroom and a Keema rice. All served quickly and really tasty. Tender chicken and lamb, no grease/oil at all. All for less than £55. If you're in the area and fancy a nice meal then I recommend the Taj.

Horrible experience, only gave 1 star as giving zero stars was not an option. Waited 1 hour longer than the 1 hour advised for delivery time and when it did turn up the food was rank. Chicken tikka with only 2 pieces of chicken and lamb jalfrezi with only 3 small pieces of lamb. Both curries had started to conjeal and resembled lumpy tinned curry. Soggy naan and poppadoms and cold chips. Absolute waste of money. Save yours and go elsewhere.

Keema naan had no meat inside like it should. Curry had literally 3 pieces of chicken. Other than that the food was nice.
