I was told I needed a new carry on bag. We knew where to go. Easily found an extensive assortment, picked a good one, found a few other odds and ends. The service was very pleasant. I've been coming here for years.
Went to have a look around with my son, I ride the bus so carry a back pack. Was told I couldn't bring my back pack inside I had to leave it outside, yet women are walking around with bags larger then mine. Also had a nice sign to tell people if they don't want to take it off and leave it outside where fellow at the counter said it will most likely be stolen they should go to Walmart with it, nice way to treat people. I asked to speak to the manager and the reason for such rules, which I was told due to an arson attempt at the flea market, where you can still wear a back pack. I guess lighters are only in back packs? I've grown up going to this place and have spent plenty of my money there but won't be in the future
I came in here with my task trained and doctor recommended service dog. I don't know if it's because his vest is "fun" it's just Halloween themed but I was asked to leave it on the counter, where it would most likely get stolen. I paid $130 for that vest from a small business, plus in Canada it is a federal crime to not have a service animal vested. I said "No, it's a federal crime for me to take it off in store. I'm sorry, but I can't." I was promptly followed by employees calling out to my dog, trying to get his attention. That is also a federal crime. And before you guys say "Oh fentalyl, theft, blah blah blah woke mind virus" why would I give a dog that I spent thousands of dollars on, raised and trained from 10 weeks old, fentalyl? His vest doesn't even have big enough pockets to fit earrings in it, it carries my low blood pressure medication and some salt packets. Yall seriously need to learn how to treat the disabled.
This company is really good. I bought something off of their Amazon account. It came earlier than expected, and they even sent us a handwritten note. Always supportive to small family Canadian businesses!
It's so fun to walk around this place. They have some of the strangest items for sale and we never leave empty handed. It's worth the visit just to listen to their playlist
I found Forest City Surplus while looking for a specific brand of cordless tool online. Forest City had the product that I was looking for much less than Amazon. The product from Forest City also included the battery with the tool. So, I ended up getting a cordless tool with battery for less than the bare tool only on Amazon. Ordering online was a breeze and the communication back about where the order was in process and when it was being shipped was fantastic. I'm happy to have supported this Canadian run family business. Oh, the note from Holly in my order thanking me for supporting the Canadian family business was a nice touch.
The store itself has a lot of interesting, difficult-to-find-elsewhere items. Unfortunately, they could hire staff who treat human beings better. There are a few hidden gems though, staff-wise and merchandise-wise. Trying to communicate with them if they believe you're wrong/you're upset is wasting everybody's time though.
I visited forest city and was amazed by the wide variety of items they have. The shop is also very large and spacious. Items are affordable.
I had a great experience ordering online. I paid a fraction of what Amazon was asking for the same item and received it the next day. Couldn't be happier.
