After a walk on the moors the Sunnyhurst Hotel is a great place to stop and recharge your batteries with drink and food. A warm greeting from staff behind the bar on arrival . We ordered drinks and were made aware that homemade pasties were available. We declined but clocked somebody eating one and it looked tasty. They do have sports events on TV but while we were there watching football it did not take over the atmosphere and people were able to hold a conversation without shouting. Dogs welcome and most of their owners were well behaved. We look forward to our next visit. Enjoy.
Great little pub, IPA was fresh as a daisy, good prices! Too Shame it's not my local, just what you need after a walk around sunny Hurst woods and Darwen tower
£4 for two watery weak Douwe Egberts coffees in paper cups seems a bit steep. Quite shocked a pub that's popular with walkers doesn't have a coffee machine?! Response to reply - it was two coffees. I was only told it was Douwe Egberts when they were brought out and I was standing waiting to pay. So you seem to be mistaken. It's always a good sign when a pub lies in response to a negative review instead of taking it on the chin!
Nice little pub. Friendly staff and good prices.
The pub has had a good makeover since I last visited, pre covid. Fresh bright wall paper, new carpets and lots if pictures, mainly of French Bulldogs wearing tiaras for some reason, and fancy quirky ornaments, including French Bulldogs, all of which you can buy. Whilst there the local French Bulldog walking group all met outside, I've never seen as many Frenchies in one place before, guess there's some connection to the pub and Frenchies, I'm guessing tge owner lives them.
Nice country pub serving exceptionally well kept Thwaite's beer. Limited choice beyond those but very welcoming, including to dogs. Recommended.
Great walking areas around there, followed by a nice pint after, lovely pub
Visited for a drink on our way back from Darwen Tower walk. Friendly staff with great outdoor sitting area.
Great little Thwaites pub near the top end of Sunnyhurst woods with some roadside parking and a small car park a short walk up towards the woods. Seating is around tables in two rooms as well as at tables & benches outside. Walkers with muddy boots, children and dogs are welcome water in a bowl provided for dogs. There are usually 4 or 5 different real ales on the pumps and I've never had a bad one yet. The bar staff are friendly especially the woman from Glasgow. The decor is interesting and there are often devorative items from a local retailer on show and for sale. There are TVs in both rooms which have both been set to sports channels whenever I've been there in the late afternoon. It can get a bit noisy if there's an important football match on but usually the general atmosphere is very relaxing with the chatter of contented guests enjoying a drink, packet of crisps and each others company.
Great little country boozer, friendly bar staff, nice pint, in comfortable country pub surroundings
