Really nice food here, however gotta dock two stars for the inability to make reservations, and how loud it is in the restaurant extremely noisy, not suitable for anyone sensitive to sound, as well as the fact we had to ask for table water 4 times before it finally arrived just before we finished our desserts... Also, the pasta isn't quite the very best could be bouncier in my uninformed opinion, also while three of our dishes had similarly cooked pasta, one dish out of the four we ordered was extremely chewy and, again, in my uninformed opinion, could have perhaps done with a touch longer. Desserts very nice.
Been here a few times now and love the simplicity of it. Large restaurant that always seems packed full but staff always remain nice and helpful. There is a small bar area with a few tables which is nice for a drink if needing to wait for a table to become available. Not an extensive menu but all you could really want when it comes to pasta and it keeps the service quick. Dishes stick to a few ingredients and are very tasty and fresh. Happy to make it one of my go to restaurants when in Glasgow!
The pasta is the star here - the dishes are delicious, simple and straightforward. You can easily order 2 amazing pasta dishes with drinks and have change from £30. In terms of dining experience, it can feel a bit chaotic - lots of tables placed quite close together, and high noise levels because of the layout and number of people. The service was fine - not amazing, not the most attentive but good enough. It’s very focussed on serving great food to lots of people, quickly. You wouldn’t come here to have a lengthy, relaxing meal - but that’s fine, because it’s not what Sugo is designed for. I’d recommend coming here for lovely food, but be clear that it won’t necessarily be a relaxed dining experience.
Always a pleasure having some pasta and a good dessert in Sugo when we visit Glasgow. Great food and fast good service. In one of our visits the dessert took a bit longer than usually and was for free. The menu is not enormous but every pasta I've taken was delicious. Not very expensive. Quite noisy as the place is very big, but that's not actually a problem.
My must go to whenever I’m in Glasgow! I’m in love with their pasta. The place is always crowded because this is one of the best pasta places in Glasgow. I like that they take no bookings only walk-ins. The pasta is simply too good to be true. Strong flavors and fresh ingredients. They offer monthly-specials which you should definitely keep an eye on. I’ve never had a bad experience here. This is a simple 5 stars
Can honestly say one of the best dining experience I have had in a very long time. Service fast and efficient while very friendly. Food sublime, cost really reasonable, ambience brilliant - fab mixture old and young people. Love canteen style, simple menu but fantastic. I will be back as often as I can
Their pasta has always been on point. Not had a bad experience other than sometimes there's quite a wait if you don't have a reservation. The specials are always a welcomed menu and usually go with items off there. Main downside is not all their drink pricing is shown and there's a bit lackluster options for non mains items. But certainly would recommend.
This is the best food I've had in a while, absolutely delicious meal. I had the terriaki noodles with crunchy veg and chicken, was immense! With a side of crispy coated fried green beans. Don't walk by this place, outstanding taste! Vegetarian options: Great produce and loads of vegetarian options to choose from with outstanding flavours Wheelchair accessibility: Ground floor restaurant with ground floor entrance down Mitchell Lane Dietary restrictions: Great approach to service and I was asked about diet restrictions, I'm lucky to not have any however they cater for all requirements
We were trying to find a good restaurant for our last night in Glasgow near our hotel in St Enoch Square. Having had a terrible meal at B&B the previous evening we were on our way to LI and passed Sugo. The place was full, always a good sign especially on a Tuesday evening, and we decided that the 1/4 full LI did not compare favourably. We were immediately shown to a rather noisy seat, but then the greeter suggested we went somewhere quieter which was good of him. We ordered drinks, sides and one special, one off the normal menu and we had everything brought to the table within 10-15 minutes. It was wonderful, very tasty, good portion sizes and it was a treat to watch the chefs working as a team. Come here if you want good pasta done well. The only negative point was the waitress had her personality removed that day before coming to work.
One of my favourite finds whilst visiting Glasgow was Sugo Pasta. Place was popular and after dining I know why... Simple menu with 10 pasta choices to suit all needs including Gluten Free, Vegetarian and Vegan with a small selection of starters/sides/desserts. Staff were amazing and had a really vibrant atmosphere. Really couldn't recommend enough.
