We ordered items off the website which were with us 200 miles away very quickly. The items were very securely wrapped, unpacked and positioned. We sent back a desk and two clocks for renovation/repair and they were returned in immaculate order two weeks later. We have found Peter Sturman a knowledgeable and professional man to deal with. Brian, the driver, as ever willing and with a smile on his face. Very aware of the Covid guidelines we felt safe at all times. Business with Sturmans Antiques is a pleasure and I can see many more purchases in the future.
I first met Peter from Sturmans Antiques a couple of years ago, when he purchased some furniture from me that didn't fit in my new house. He was extremely easy to do business with and very fair. I have subsequently purchased a number of items from the shop and have always been very happy with them. I then moved again and Peter and Clare have been exceptional at listening to my requirements and locating exactly what I wanted. The quality of the furniture has been excellent and the delivery service superb. Brian even fixed my Grandfather clock for me, whilst delivering on one occasion. I would not hesitate to recommend Sturmans to anyone looking for quality antiques and expertise.
My wife and I are absolutely delighted with the beautiful Regency mirror which arrived yesterday. It has exceeded our expectation. I highly recommend this dealer and will consider further purchases in the future.
A few months ago after seeing online they had a nice selection of antique barometers we decided to drive up from Wakefield and have a look. Before going I emailed them to ensure they're dog friendly small well behaved poodle and luckily this was no problem. Found a really nice barometer which had been fully serviced and adjusted and has proved very accurate. There's a lot of "Antiques Centres" around full of all sorts of miscellaneous bits and pieces at cheap prices. This isn't one of them. The shop is full of genuine and good quality antiques at obviously much higher prices, but the range and quality is great...... you get what you pay for. The couple running the shop at the time of our visit were very helpful and friendly without being pushy or obtrusive. Would go again even if not wanting anything just for the pleasure of looking round.
I am really impressed by the online service offered by this business - including Clare persevering to overcome me providing an incomplete email.address! The item I ordered arrived speedily and was well-protected in transit. It is even more beautiful than I had anticipated and was very reasonably priced. I wish that I lived close enough to visit in person but the quality of photos/info on this website mean that I can select further purchases with confidence.
Excellent on line service. Saw the item I wanted,on Selling Antiques, paid via pay pal. The Moorcroft vase arrived two days later really well packed and now has pride of place on my display unit.
I had family with me from Malaysia two of us had cups of coffee with lids on. We were walking around carefully and respectfully. As soon as we entered a shop assistant followed us and said be careful of our coffee because of the furniture. It made us all feel uncomfortable and unwelcome so we left. I’m sure she says this to all customers and not just the ones that look different....
Peter is a top man and Clare his sister a great lady, staff fantastic. The antiques in this shop are fabulous and I will keep doing business with this concern, furniture and pottery top notch. Keep it up Peter.
Crook. Bought 2 lamps, boxed, from him. Opened the boxes to find both shades damaged. Asked us to return them at our expense, which we did. A dozen broken promises of refunds/replacements later, we are still minus the shades, and their return postage. Buy from him at your peril. Edit: It is libelous to call me a liar, Peter. But to respond to the nonsense you have replied there... Firstly, you have NOT sent us 2 MORE shades, "out of decency". That is a downright lie, Mr Sturman. We have only one damaged pair, not two. You refused to send us another pair, remember. Second, correct, the unopened boxes were delivered to us, but as these were not opened by you, you cannot say the shades inside were perfect. The damages were noted when we got home. I sent you pictures of the damaged shades and the completely undamaged outer boxes, remember. Of course, we do not expect you to come to Scotland with replacement shades. We have been in your shop since, giving you the opportunity to resolve the situation, only to be fobbed off with more excuses. Why would I go to the trouble of inventing this ruse?
Very well curated selection of fine antiques. Staff are knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. If you buy something too large or awkward to carry away with you, they will happily post the item to your home address. I believe they ship internationally too!
