What a fabulous pub/hotel. So glad we stayed here and wished we'd booked for 2 nights. The staff were so friendly and welcoming. We had dinner in the restaurant which was some of the nicest food we've eaten. The steak pie was 1st class can see why they are award winning and my husband said the tomahawk pork chop was beautiful. Breakfast the next morning did not disappoint either. Beautifully cooked and presented. You have a great chef!! We can't wait to return soon and have recommended your accommodation to our friends and family xx
Had a lovely meal here whilst on holiday in Cumbria. We booked a meal for a family of 4 no problem. The Inn is in a nice quiet village. There is a decent size car park outside so had no problem parking. The outside was nicely lit as it was an evening and inside was very cosy. The fire was burning as it was February so a bit nippy outside, but was just right inside. The lady who greeted us and looked after us throughout was nice and friendly. The food was delicious and really good quality and the prices were reasonable as well. Wish it was around the corner from where we live as we would be there whenever we fancied a meal out if that was the case thank you for a lovely evening to the team at String of Horses Inn Food & drinks: Two of us had the burger that was on the specials board. Best burger I have ever had! The meat was quality and cooked to perfection. It had delicious maple bacon on and cheese and salad. The fries were spot on and rocket salad bowl was tasty too. The other two in our family had the fish and chips and they both said they really enjoyed it. The fish was a really good size and fresh. Thank you
Beautiful old country pub, lovely rooms, stunning bathroom. Unusual meals beautifully cooked and presented. Not your usual frozen cooked pub food. Well worth a visit, to stay or just to eat.Rooms: 5/5
This place is awesome, I couldn’t recommend this place enough. The accommodation was clean and comfortable, the restaurant chef is absolute class as were our hosts and the locals. I wish I could give a higher compliment. Stunning
6/09/2022 No words just perfect!! Staff 2 blonde girls, food and the atmosphere everything.Best food out we have ever had perfect for our first meal out as wife and wife! We did not fancy anything from the dessert menu, so they got together everything we liked. Very nice. Thank you, honey moon couple.
A very very nice place to eat drink and sleep. The whole place is just great, the food , drinks and bar area is superb. The rooms are too a high standard . 100 % perfect..
We were staying nearby and thought we would drop in for a local draught beer. We were welcomed by good bar staff, with two local beers hand pulled. There was a log fire on and was a traditional pub... In the best sense. Food was being served and I think your need a good appetite as the portions seemed large to me. There is no garden to sit on but a very nice wooden structure outside was in the full sun. Recommended. Oh, whilst we were there folk who had booked rooms came and said they had been a while back and loved it so thought they would come back. I think that's a good sign.

Absolutely fantastic place to stay. Very Victorian kind of hotel, loved the look inside. We stayed there for 2 nights. Very peaceful location, top notch service, rooms spotlessly clean and very good breakfast. 10mins off the M6. Would definitely return and highly recommended.Rooms: 5/5
Amazing 2 night break! Upon entering the inn there was an open fire blasting out heat! Friendly staff! Amazing Sunday dinner and pudding! The room was great, very clean, all the essentials. The breakfast was superb, the lady serving us really went above and beyond! Even preparing a fruit platter the next day for my wife! She was also very helpful and knowledgeable with the surroundings and amenities! Would 100% recommend and stay here again! Thanks to all the staff! Other bonuses were free WiFi and parking.
