My grandson who has a disability fetched chips with cheese about 20 mins after the shop opened. The counter assistant warmed his chips up ! Obviously left overs ! put cheese on and warmed them again . Not the thing to do. They were awful yuk..! and nothing like we have had from other chippies which have been great.. He couldn't eat them ! ONE star for giving him his money back .

The best takeaway fish and chips I've ever tasted! They were prepared while we waited and cooked (in vegetable oil) beautifully - fish delicious and batter light and crisp.

We always enjoy the fish and chips at Straits, and many other options are available (burgers etc). Admittedly, with lots of competition locally, a bad shop would soon fail in this seaside town. But we think Straits still has the edge, with good portion sizes, crispy batter and chips, and friendly staff. There is no seating, so it's take-away only.

Shop was meant to open today at 11.30am. I waited out side until 12.10pm before giving up. Staff were inside but didn't come out to explain delay. Not the way to treat customers if you want their business! Found another shop and won't be returning to Straits.
