They have completely change the menu and chefs. The Burgers are great ! Best quality and home-made. Lots of vegetarian options. I highly recommend home made veggie patties, Godzilla Burger, Rib-eye, Cobb Salad and dish called Mama Mia : There are also pretty good sharing platter selections. The new milkshakes and cocktails are really amazing as well. Good job....
I have eaten at Stokey Stop for both breakfast and lunch and both have been good. I can fully recommend the Mediterranean breakfast which was enormous and kept me going most of the day! My husband has had the fry up in the past too which also looked great. The burgers are also very nice. I have always found the staff to be helpful and it’s one of the few places on the High Street you can grab a spot outside if the sun comes out. A nice addition to the brunch / lunch selection in Stoke Newington.
Burger lovers watch this place! Affordable and good quality burgers, all served with onion rings and chips. For the brave ones: They have a burger called Godzilla with3 x 8oz chargrilled burgers. The place is really nice with a good terrace for the sunny days and a nice vintage decoration inside, ideal for big groups. Staff well nice and helpful. Will be back.
I was told about the Roast Dinner experience by a friend who visits you almost weekly. She showed me the photos and video of the meal that she has on her phone...Delicious!.. An extra large Yorkshire pud, piled with roasted veg, lots of real potatoes not your frozen rubbish and at least 4-5 slices of beef. The presentation had me salivating.. Alas, I visited yesterday and I have to say I was very disappointed, the portion was meagre and swimming in gravy I would have preferred it on the side 3 tiny potatoes Am I to assume now that all the introductory fuss is over that you are now serving much smaller portions for the same price? Don't get me started on the cocktails..can someone please try to make a decent one..And how about a drinks menu for starters?
Some hangovers call for orange juice whilst others shout for Full Englishes. We had one of the latter so battled an epic fifteen minute walk to the high street to revisit Stokey Stop. An all-day diner type place, I'd had a decent 'Johnny English' before so was relishing the thought of a guilty pleasure to wolf down. I ordered what turned out to be the worst Bloody Mary I'd ever had it won't be featuring on my Bloody Mary Blitz, that's for sure - watery, tasteless and spiceless, I was too chicken to complain. The Johnny English itself wasn't bad - Cumblerland bangers, a tasteless roasted tomato, fried mushrooms, black pudding, a hash brown, two fried eggs, two rashers of bacon and Heinz beans - but we just couldn't bring ourselves to finish it or stomach the £30 bill at the end.
Their 'homemade' veggie burgers can be bought in bulk a couple of doors down at Iceland. Not kidding. Also the 'burgers start at £5' sign outside the place is false- they're £7 when you go inside. £7 for an Iceland value burger- Grrrrreat. Offers on their website also not on when you go there.
At first I thought my breakfast was a practical joke. A deep fried sausage, an uncooked tomato, cold white sliced toast well toasted on one side I saw someone's eggs Benedict and it had those square slices of ham on it. Only 6 quid so I wasn't expecting anything magical but still. Towards the end of last year they did these awesome breakfast sandwiches which was why we thought to go there. Staff seemed nice though.
The manager here must hold a doctorate in pants service. I am only giving one star because I can’t give zero. After an hour and ten minutes waiting for a burger to arrive after ordering, we finally asked him about it, at which point he told us that the kitchen was out of service – and instead of apologies, or offering a discount on the drinks we’d already bought, he tried to give us vouchers for a discount on our next visit! The worst thing though, was the fact that he was openly irritated with us for even bringing up that it was not the level of service expected. In all honesty, he seemed annoyed to have been called away from his conversation with his friends sitting around one of the restaurant tables. Sorry, mate, but that's not what you're there to do. If you hate customers, you need to sell up, and not waste peoples’ time. Also, the coffee was cold. AVOID. Go to one of the brilliant Turkish places in Dalston instead.
Poor excuse for a restaurant / bar. Burger, ribs and chilli were all really bad. One dish had to go back the the kitchen twice before they got it right.
Rude manager and clueless staff. Broken toilets, looks rundown, overall not somewhere you want to spend money. If I could rate lower than 1. I would!
