Terrible line. I'd been calling daily for the past week or so because I suffer Agoraphobia. I'm too scared to reach out for support properly yet so i started it anonymously via anonymous helplines. Yesterday when I rang I spoke to a woman. She was quite rude and said: "we've spoken about you, you keep ringing here." Not only did this make me feel guilty for calling, but i took it as an obvious hint that she had a problem with me calling. I should have seen the signs and not called again, but I'm desperate. I have no support system and felt like I needed to talk to somebody. If you ever know what true desperation feels like you'd understand. I recalled them the next night and guess who's voice I heard on the other end of the line? That same woman! So I hung up on her, and recalled again to get a different person instead. I felt better when I heard a man pick up the phone, but what I got instead of being greeted was. "You've already had a call tonight, everyone only gets one call a night!". I tried to explain and he shouted over me saying he's going to hang up on me. Does that sound understanding to you? Does that sound like a supportive line? They are not understanding people. They're not helpful. I will never call them again. You'd get more empathy and understanding from a homeless man on the streets of Hanley.
Horrible. They are mostly full of cold people who respond in a completely uncaring uninterested tone. You start to wonder why they work there because most of them clearly don't actually care or if they do they are genuinely terrible at expressing it.
I have nothing but support from this valuble service off&on for 12years when I have needed support
